Nice fresh soil, no complaints here!
The two packages I got are great.I have nothing but praise. The soil smells like fresh soil, absolutely no bad oder at all and I’m using indoors in my house plants.I haven’t had any problem with fungus gnats or bugs.I was reading some reviews that really scared me from even wanting to open up the packages!Well, all I could say is my packages of soil were fresh, clean and perfectly fine.I mix my own soil mix. I never use any soil straight from the bag.I mostly mix just pumice and perlite for my succulent soil mix.But I wanted to add a bit of organic matter to it and Peat moss is perfect for that.I just use a small percentage and it’s just enough to retain some moisture. Plus, as it breaks down, it also adds organic matter for nutrients. The way I use it, one bag of this soil will go along way.(except I’m probably going to use it when I repot my other houseplants because it’s SO much better than big box store potting soil!)

Let's get dirty!
Seems like a really good soil mix for my purposes. I'm an avid houseplant gardener (and outdoor gardener as well, but my northern New England home has long, cold winters!!) & I've recently begun a more active "starting from seed" planting role. I absolutely love starting houseplants (which in my mind, include cacti and succulents) from seeds -- it's like having little green children! I take a great deal of pride in my "I grew that from a teeny little seed" plants, much moreso than a plant that I purchased. And if this soil performs the way it's advertised to, then we're going to have a long friendship! I've tried other brands of cactus & succulent soils & have not found them to be in any way superior to my plain ole multi purpose potting soil or seed starting soil. So I'm hopeful this new "premium, organic, hand-made by professionals" soil will outperform the others I've tried, as I have high hopes for starting a bunch of new & exotic species indoors this winter with my new heating mats & grow lights. So, fingers crossed! Now let's go get our hands dirty!!! (Literally!)

It’s a potting mix, what where you expecting?
Don’t assume you know how the soil works. The soil isn’t that bad, but it’s not entirely the best. Yes this soil is better then non-succulent soils, but it does have some very strong moisture retaining quality. Personally I didn’t like that it had random sticks and rocks so I just picked them out when the soil was still dry. Yes like many other reviewers have said it doesn’t have the best smell, but it is soil and it’s been outside what where you expecting. What I would suggest is not to immediately put your plant in the soil. I’ve seen a lot of people say that it has killed their plants because of their long list of complaints. Look if it’s your first time having succulents and even more important using this soil, don’t use it with out testing it. What I would suggest doing is “washing” the soil, and by that I mean putting the soil in a colander or a pasta strainer and run water through the soil. I don’t know why but the water always runs a dark yellow color, but after a while the it should start to get almost clear. Then put the soil in a pot, but no plant and in a place where it is going to be if it did have a plant. Watch it for like 2 weeks and see if you like the water retention, composition, and rate of of evaporation. I learned to do this process while living in a college dorm room with non opening windows, temperature control, limited sunlight, many dead plants, and having the preconceived idea that I didn’t know how the soil worked. Also “washing” it makes the smell mostly go away.

Works
The media could not be loaded. This soil worked well I needed to repot my cactus. It was lightweight, drains well, yet holds moisture well. The downside is that it’s a little pricey for a small bag.

Perfect, Easter cactus is ecstatic.
I have a 17 year old Easter Cactus that is very special to me, also 'babies ' that I have planted from fallen leaves. I wanted to make sure I was getting premium soil for them all. I replanted 2 of them and had to get another bag. The 2 I replanted are doing incredibly well. I also used vitamin B1 to help counteract shock. I am very pleased and impressed with the personal email I received from the sellers. I will definitely continue to do business with them. Thanks so much for making my precious cactus happy!

Makes plants happy!!!
I ordered this for some string of hearts cuttings I had coming in the mail from a friend, along with a cute giraffe pot. The bag is actually bigger than I thought it would be! So it's a great value for your money! You can zip it back closed so if it falls over there's not a huge mess (great for a clutz like me!!) And it was simple for me to use because it came premixed and I didn't have to figure out portions! I'll update my review soon with pictures! So far my SOH and other succulents look happy 😃

Not a good draining soil for succulents
I didn't have smelly soil like some others reported but this soil WILL NOT drain I've tried it in 4 pots and the water just sits atop the mound. I have to keep pouring water in then mix the soil over and over just to get the 2 to combine. Like the lint free cloth that will not absorb water till you smash it in your hand. And because of the poor drainage I keep getting that white blanket of mold on top. I'm trying a different soil next time

Excellent potting soil for my ZZ Plants
I love this soil. It's ridiculously light weight and is wonderful for my ZZ plant.I only wish it either came in a large bag or the price was lower on the small bags. I have large plants and wanted the best for them but it took 4 bags for one plant which is expensive. But I do love it and would absolutely recommend it.
