Enjoyable kit
This is a very old kit and is therefore not without its problems. There is some flash but I’ve seen a lot worse. The biggest problems were quite a severe warping on the port hull half although I did manage to manipulate it in the end and it fitted ok. Another problem is the locating holes on the deck for the foremast and mainmast which are not correctly aligned fore and aft so when fitted the mast stands at an angle. Not easy to rectify without major surgery. As usual with Airfix, everything is stuffed Into a single polythene bag resulting in several parts being bent or broken.Having said that there are a lot of plus points - the 1/72 scale gives quite a large model with excellent surface detail including planking and scribing for the complex paint scheme which makes life much easier. The finished model looks vey impressive although you need to do a bit of research on the rigging as the kit instructions are way too simple.Excellent value for money, a challenge to paint and overall a very enjoyable kit to build.

Quality has dropped over the years
Memory of this model from nearly 50 years ago now requires a lot more prep work scraping off excess plastic. Rigging is going to be interesting as original model had pre done rigging, this model will require the modeller to make the rigging.Update tried to express to Airfix my concerns on their model and they basically said to go to Amazon for a refund if I wasn't happy. Doesn't say much for how their company feels towards their customers.

Good challenging kit
The kit was supplied by World Wide Shopping Mall ltd and initially arrived with an error in the supplied parts but this was quickly rectified by the supplier without any hassle. The kit has some very small parts so construction and painting should not be hurried (just the job for the long winter evenings). The painting of small parts is certainly the most difficult but persistent efforts will be rewarded. Some trimming of the moulded parts is required but this is all part of the build. There are lots of photographs of the real ship online which helps in the build and painting colours.Overall an excellent kit.

rubbish
this product is rubbish, there are bits missing so cant finish making it, what a waste of £33,00 , really disappointed with this, I would think the packaging it came in is worth more than the product itself. has put me off buying any more models .honestly cant believe how crap it is , may as well have rolled up the cash and burnt it
