Q: The latch pin is slope the wrong way for many applications, can pin be rotated 180 degrees? Otherwise the latch would be on he inside of the cabinet!

I did rotate it 180 degrees. You have to tap the hole the sliding lever is on. It is not tapped through. I then put lock tite on the threads when I installed the lever

Q: What is the spring tension like on these? Is the spring nice and firm or more loose?

These are great, work well. Good firm tension. I built a ten foot fence around part of my garden to keep deer out. I framed the doors with 2x4 and used these little buggers to keep it shut. Been out there for 9 months now, used almost daily still like new

Not sure what you mean. You could flip it over to mount on either side of door.
