I like this product, It works very well, I make my own cured meat and it needs to be sliced almost paper thin, but it is very difficult to slice it with a knife and I don't want a large deli slicer in my kitchen taking up all the space. This is a small, compact device that is very easy to use. It is also important that it does not move or wobble when slicing meat. I haven't tried cutting salami yet, but it should be a lot easier than what I used it for. And the reason I give it 4 stars is because I bought it a day ago for $50.95 plus tax and now its price has dropped to $48.93. What's up with that? I'm not going to fight for $2+, but in this day and age with this economy where every dollar counts, I feel cheated. 🙁

The design is beautiful, the craftsmanship excellent…but it is only usable if you are right handed. It would be simple enough to tweak the design to swap the triangular piece to either side, but it isn’t possible to do with this item. Sadly both my husband and I are lefties so it’s useless. The description should note this since it isn’t obvious from the pictures or description. Disappointed.

Good product works great

I like this very much because of the simplicity of the design and fabrication. Things like this seem to always have a long life and never get packed away and forgotten.

Gives good control when cutting. wish it had something to hold the food as you cut it.

Der Hobel ist etwas instabil und wackelig beim Schneiden von etwas härterer Wurst oder Schinken. Aber man kann ihn trotzdem benutzen, indem man den Hobel auf einer rutschfesten Unterlage fest macht.
