update 2 (10/20/2019):After further extensive tests I have discovered that the floodlights performed as expected. ***But the motion detection was impacted by connecting the solar panel.*** If you do not connect the solar panel then range is as expected.I also tested the lights connected to LePower's solar panel which came from the white version of this same light. (That light had the best range of the three.) Motion detection was improved compared to the solar panels that came with Ameritop's version.However, the best motion detection range and sensitivity for both the originally purchased light and the replacement light was observed when no solar panel was attached to the floodlight.So the sensitivity switch was not directly the problem. The motion detection problems I experienced were due to something with the solar panel connection.I have sent back both lights. Upgrading to 2 stars since the light alone was verified to work.update:replacement has worse motion sensitivity distance than the first one. fed up of getting duds! it doesn't detect with the advertized range of 49 feet. this replacement only detects like ten feet away on high setting. going to return these two defective units!not sure why there's all these good reviews. how many bad units are out there just to get a good one?first review:first off, i will update this review if the replacement fixes the issue.i first ordered lepower's white version of this exact same product, which is also on amazon. that one exceeded my expectations. brightness and range of detection are excellent. but i needed a black version to match the exterior trimmings. so i relegated the white one i already have to the back.currently, lepower's black version is a different model with a farther range *but* is on backorder until oct 16. it has a round base not square, so i couldn't reuse the existing holes i already drilled.searching amazon led me to this product which is essentially the same in appearance and advertised function as lepower's white model.the product, packaging and manual i received looks practically identical to lepower's except for the re-branding.now, after installing this, the motion sensor's detected range was only around 15 feet when set to high while lepower's was 45 feet. so i toggled the sensitivity and discovered that no matter what range it was set to it always triggered at the same short distance. i tested various variables and concluded that the switch or component pertaining to the motion detection range or sensitivity is defective.if the replacement is also this bad, i might try a third time because i've come across bad batches of products on amazon this year more than any other year - where the second or third replacement was just as bad. this time i'm drawing a line on two replacements but hoping it won't come to that.

We have an extended walkway from where we park to our porch. We set this up to light the path from parking to the porch. So far, it works great! We haven't had any issues with the motion dectection. I really like having the ability to switch duration of lighting once motion detection is sensed/ceases to be sensed. There is a switch on the light allowing the user to select up to 120 seconds.The light can also be switched to steady on. However, it will not hold up all night. In other words, one couldn't select "Steady on" and expect it to work as a constantly on porch light all night. I have used it in a few cases as a work light for several hours before returning it to its mount and intended purpose as a motion detecting light. It can be easily slid upward and out of its mount if needed for another purpose. That being said, it feels very secure when slid into its mount.We have been more than satisfied with this light. In fact, we purchased a second one to give to my mother-in-law for her porch.

I bought two of these to illuminate the North side of my house - of course being in the Northern Hemisphere, I need the solar panel to face South - and these did the trick! I really like the length of cord between the light and the solar panel. It allowed me to get the solar panel out from under any potential shadows from near trees.The adjustable lights was a serious plus as each of the two lights I got is mounted on corners of the house, so I could "wrap" the light around the corners of the house. It was actually pretty easy and quick to install too. Took about 20 minutes per light to install, and most of that time was having to move the ladder.The motion detection is actually really good... even when you tell it not to be that sensitive. I was worried that one of my lights would constantly go off all night from traffic, but when you spend a few minutes and adjust both the sensor and it's sensitivity, it's perfect.Highly recommended!

I loved the idea of this light. I did not take enough time to read the negative reviews. I live in Mexico so it will be impossible to return from here. I received it at my USA address. Amazon, if you are reading this, you should eliminate this product or find one that works. Mine comes on the first time using motion after dark, then nothing for the rest of the night. I don't know if it comes on when I am in bed but I doubt it. This product gets a review of worthless from a loyal Amazon customer. EDIT!! SINCE CUSTOMER SERVICES KICKED IN, I HAVE ACTUALLY ORDERED ANOTHER ONE OF THESE BRIGHT LIGHTS!!UPDATE: AFTER PLACING GJE ORIGINAL REVIEW, THE COMPANY REALLY OUTDID THEMSELVES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Because of that, I just ordered another. I have now changed the review to 5 stars.

Bought light so my wife would have instant light when taking the dog out for his early morning business. Lots of critters on our property so this light is bright and has quite a distance in lighting up the yard so she can to do a quick assessment of any early risers in the yard. Solar works great so far and convenient x could place the light in an area without an outlet x didnt have to get an electrician out to fix the problem. Probably saved hundreds of dollars. Would definitely recommend. Considering a second one for another problem area.

This item was purchased to replace a light that didn’t work for us. We needed a solar flood-type, with replaceable batteries; this one fit the bill.It was a breeze to install, although i would warn anyone purchasing this to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! It calls for the battery to charged for 3 days. This means, plugging in the solar panel and setting the assembly in the sun for 3 days, which I did. Because of where I’m using it, I had to adapt the mounting, but that was my choice. It worked out great and is very secure. The amount of light it generates exceeds my expectations. Very happy with this purchase! Also, this light has replaceable batteries, which increases its life expectancy!

I've had this light working to light up my backyard now for a little over 2 months and it's been working flawlessly. However, a ton of the reviews seems to show that the unit reduces quality over time. From my personal experience, it's worked exactly as I expected it to, it seems to hold a charge for the entire night without sun and comfortably lights up about 1/4 acre of land.Overall, my unit was great but there may be quality control issues. Definitely try it out and return it if you don't see similar results, but this has been perfect for what I need it for and for a great price.4/5

Installing the 5 lights I bought today. Not finished but so far so good. Illumination is excellent. Nice looking and fairly easy to install. Sensors work excellent at least in the ones that are installed. Each light has 3 lenses 2 of them can be moved in multiple directions for customizing where you want the light to show. So far I am very pleased. I would have rated 5 stars on all items but I have not installed all of them yet so I gave a next to perfect rating. A very good buy for one who wants to use outdoors.

My only concern is with the rechargeable batteries. I have several cordless tools, and they have all lasted a long time. The rechargeable batteries, however, seem to fail regularly. I am guessing the same will happen with this item. The manufacturer made it very easy to replace the batteries, but they are an odd size, and I have not found a source for replacements. I approached the vendor for help, but they have not replied to my request.

Light and solar panel installs quickly and easily with 4 screws each. Controls are easily accessible and simple to set to the various time and sensitivity settings. The ability to point the 3 separate lights independently is great for illuminating multiple areas. Far brighter than we expected! We’re lighting the driveway, front entry and shed/barn.

This solar light was exactly what we were looking for. We needed a solar powered light for our shed; just something simple that was motion activated for when we are getting fire wood at night. Everything we could find in Home Depot/Canadian Tire was over $100. This light was reasonably priced and well worth it. It was super easy to install, and within 2 hours of having it out in full sun, the light was already working. It detects motion from a decent distance away.We will definitely be buying a second light for the side of our house!
