True Vanilla Flavor
We bought this to replicate a beverage that we love from Greyhouse, a fabulous independent coffee shop in West Lafayette, IN. They serve a drink called London Fog. It is essentially an Earl Grey tea latte with a slightly sweet vanilla flavor added to it. We had great success by brewing an Earl Grey teabag in enough boiling water to cover the tea bag and letting it steep for 4-5 minutes. Squeeze as much of the liquid out of the tea bag before you discard it. Add 12-16 oz of hot milk to the concentrated tea and sweeten with up to a teaspoon of vanilla sugar. You'll be hooked!Bakto sugar is a golden sugar and it is heavily infused with flecks of actual vanilla bean. The black flecks can look slightly off-putting floating in your beverage, but the flavor is worth it. We also tried Hula Girl brand. It is a white sugar without the vanilla bean flecks. Hula Girl comes in a plastic jar and it appears to be regular sugar with a couple of vanilla bean pods submersed in the sugar which is something I'm going to try on my own. It may be a really cost effective way to achieve our goal. Hula Girl is good although I think the vanilla flavor isn't as strong as Bakto. Perhaps four pods would be perfect.

Great flavor.
Goes well with everything that calls for vanilla in it. Since it's vanilla infused sugar, I have to keep in mind to decrease the sugar in the recipe (maybe that's just me), but I love the flavor of it. Seems to be not as "aggressive" as the vanilla extracts, and allows other flavors to shine.

Lovely vanilla experience
I really like this. Where it contains actual ground vanilla beans, it's not going to just "disappear" into your drink or dessert, so it's perfect for adding a bit of vanilla bean "authenticity" to a creme, pudding or baked goods. While it's not as concentrated as a vanilla bean paste, the vanilla flavor is substantial and feels balanced. Consider that because it is actual vanilla bean, it benefits greatly from a little time to "steep" to infuse flavor. I like to give it a few minutes in hot water or milk before blending into beverages. While it won't infuse as much flavor just sprinkled on top, I love to add it to muffins before baking to add some visual texture and a heady vanilla fragrance.

Absolutely delicious.
The flavor is killer. An interesting melange of pure sweetness, smooth vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. I use this in lieu of granulated cane sugar for a mid-afternoon or early evening double ristretto cortadq. It mellows the bitterness of French Roast with a complex sweetness. I can see where toasting a ciabatta, smearing with a little butter and sprinkling on this product and having it with morning coffee might be a nice way to start the day. It would save several hundred calories from some of our morning pastries.

Flavorful, Excellent Quality
I love, love, love these Bakto vanilla sugars. I started mixing these, half and half, in my homemade vanilla ice cream and all my family and friends go nuts. I have to make double and triple batches of ice cream for special events. I only use it in my homemade ice cream because I don't eat sweets otherwise; but I am going to try it when I do make a batch of cookies next time. This has become a regular item I keep stored in my food pantry.

Wow
I notice this in a German baking book I was given. It’s taking a bit to get used to but I think the vanilla flavor is wonderful. Better than adding the liquid vanilla to your cookies and cakes

YUCK.
I have no idea what flavor they were shooting for, but vanilla is not it. Honestly, it smelled like tobacco. The bag says good for coffee, but only if you like gritty coffee that tastes like a cigarette.. I have always been dubious of home-made food products that come in bags you can buy on the internet and home-printed labels. You have no idea if the food product is handled in a safe kitchen that must pass an annual inspection by a state Health Dept., and I doubt Amazon does any background research before letting people sell home-packaged food products online. BTW, I'm from Hawaii, so I know cane sugar.UPDATE 1-25-2014: The seller sent me a nasty and aggressive email attacking me for leaving a poor review. He even went so far as to suggest that my review was a criminal act.UPDATE 2-5-2014: After asking Amazon what safety/sanitary requirements they have for 3rd party suppliers of home-package food products - I have not received ANY concrete answers. I asked on Jan 25th and was told a representative would get back to me in couple of days. Ten days later still no response, so I called and spoke with yet another representative of Amazon, who again, could not offer me any proof that this - or ANY 3rd party food supplier is licensed/approved to sell retail food products. Or any evidence that ANY food products Amazon fulfills are produced/packaged in a certified inspected facility. SCARY.!!This product is packaged in a standard stand-up pouch (that anyone can buy on Amazon), that can be sealed with a simple clothing iron. The labels are home-printed sticky labels that are applied to the bags - not a printed bag. I could buy a dog and package its waste in the exact same pouch, seal it, and slap a label on it calling it "food". And from what I've been shown so far - Amazon would facilitate the sale and ship it to you, with no questions asked. So far, I have not seen and evidence this supplier produces food in a an approved kitchen. I have not seen any evidence that Amazon has any verified health permit documentation for this supplier - or for ANY the 3rd party food product suppliers on Amazon. In fact, the Amazon representative could not even tell me if Amazon has ANY policies regarding the sales of home/packaged food products from 3rd party suppliers. I'm serious, she could not tell me if they even have a policy - let alone tell me what the policy is - let alone provide the consumer with any PROOF that the products are safe and legally packaged/distributed.This should be of GREAT concern to every Amazon shopper. What assurances do we as consumers have that these types of home-packaged food products - that are being fulfilled by Amazon - are not being made in someones filthy garage or bathroom? How are we to know that this, or any 3rd party food suppler, is legally permitted to manufacture/package/distribute retail food products at all? At the very minimum Amazon should maintain and provide verification to consumers that all 3rd party food suppliers are indeed producing/packaging their food products in a certified kitchen/facility, and that the current valid documentation is available to any consumer who wishes to see before they buy. If you walk into a restaurant or food production facility, they MUST maintain health certifications and display them - no so for Amazon products,, in my experience so far.Its possible Amazon does have some basic requirements for 3rd party food suppliers, but after 10 days and 2 very angry phone calls (that were met with plenty of apologies and "I understand your concerns"),, they have not disclosed any of that information.UPDATE 2-12-2014: Another week and Amazon has still not provided any information about safety/sanitary requirements they have for 3rd party suppliers of home-package food products. I assume the message is "Buy and eat at your own risk".
