Strap is rope. Wears well.
I purchased this for my granddaughter. 2 years later, the bag has held up well BUT the strap isn't a strap - it's a rope and it cuts into her neck. She likes that it doesn't have a zipper. It is not lined and it looks/feels like a heavy Mexican blanket. It is constructed like the second picture but I'm not sure there is a choice of colors; hers is black/white. I agree with the others that it looks NOTHING like the first picture.

Do yourself a favor and read everything about this item. They don't tell you the bag pictured first is not the bag you will receive. A bag like the second picture is what you get. Seems the first is there to lure you in. It won't be the same colors either. The one I got is awful. Bought this as a gift. What a disappointment. buyer beware.. read the full description!
