Kubernetes: Up and Running: Dive into the Future of Infrastructure

Great resource.
I bought 3 different Kubernetes books before undertaking the task of setting up a test cluster for work and this book was hands down the most useful of the 3.

An excellent introduction to the features and capabilities of Kubernetes
A very well written and in-depth introduction to using Kubernetes.

Very Detailed and Informative
The book dives deep into core topics which make understanding kubernetes much easier from a beginners perspective. My main wish is that more focus was given to the internals, like etcd usage, so that we do not have to just 'trust the magic' as much. I also think that more visuals reiterating the hierarchy of objects would help new topics fit into the readers vision of kubernetes more effortlessly.

Great book
This is actually a great introduction to Kubernetes. After reading this I started looking for other books to dive deeper and realized how fortunate my decision was. Other books present the topics with no motivation or continuity between subjects, as if it’s a textbook for survey course in college that inherently bores people to death. Knowing the why each step of the way makes it more interesting, and it’s a shame that more people didn’t read a book like this before making their mark on the Kubernetes ecosystem. It’s a mess, and now I know one of the reasons why.On a more critical note, I found that many of the code examples were out of date and the text was poorly edited. The writing in the first several chapters was well thought out, but chapters 14 and 15 were obviously written by someone else.Overall there wasn’t anything I’d hoped for that I didn’t get from this book. Even more advanced subjects such as operators and Helm were touched on. It’s nice to know where everything fits before diving deep.

Like the title says...Up & Running!
Clear and concise, doesn't include a lot of add-ons but discusses a few.

Perfect 2nd book. Need to be updated
Flow of topics is well laid out, I am loving it. as others commented this book is for in depth understanding.I wish the book was updated as stuffs change in k8s world, I understand based on the published date the book was written with latest version then, though the concept is still valid but few commands I believe must be updated, not as a third edition but updates to this book, else I will have to invest in 3rd edt as well.

Not a great into for a Kubernetes noob
They start by describing “pods” which is good. But then they start talking a lot about “deployments” without even saying what they are (until chapter 10). Furthermore, much of the book relies on examples of what to do - rather than explanations of what the things are, this is very true around chapter 7 where they start giving them samples of “service discovery” stuff without a lot of context for what this stuff is.What it really lacked was any diagrams or pictures to show what they were actually talking about - logical relationships between things, etc.It seemed at this point the author stopped trying to “teach kubernettes concepts” and just started annotating their own workflow.

Out of date (2021), github repo not even close
A considerable amount of this book is incorrect as of 2021. The examples don't work, and the github repo with examples hasn't been updated since 2017, even though the chapters have been shifted around in the interim. You'll wind up googling a lot, which is not what I want to do with an "up and running" book.Aside from being out of date, which is bound to happen with a fast-moving ecosystem, the authors seem to have the curse of knowledge, and their definitions of the core Kubernetes API objects are vague and provide little context.

Great Kubernetes overview
it's a very good overview, you'll certainly need further books if you go depper

A fine introduction to Kubernetes, the container orchestration tool.
This is a very nicely composed book for a useful introduction to the container orchestration tool, Kubernetes. The main concepts or topics are separated out into small chapters. Each chapter starts with a general introduction to the topic, followed by some example code. I wanted a high-level understanding of the key concepts and methods that makes this tool function, and I am satisfied with the product.

very good intro&base to k8s with good examples, decently relevant to current state of k8s
I find it a good and complete base introduction and reference post first read. Decent examples though raspberry cluster one is already a bit obsolete. But than this is it & cloud, everything is obsoluted in weeks

Ben scritto, pratico e conciso
