oh how I wish this ingredient would be included in hair-skin-nail supplements, horsetail and saw palmettoboth! these 2 ingredients I usually have to buy separately, but worth it for the miracle they have performed - faster hair growth and long strong nails. I am 76 and have had thin, weak hair and soft bendy nails until I discovered horsetail and saw palmetto. this swanson brand works well. these horsetail capsules are quite large tho, have learned to drop my chin down toward chest when swallowing - big pills go down so much easier this way! I strongly suggest researching horsetail and saw palmetto, quite interesting...

It's affordable and effective.However, a major side effect to watch for: Horsetail (and other silica products) depletes the body's store of thiamine (Vitamin B1), so you should supplement your B1 if you take this for a long period of time. It's always good to do your research and talk to your doctor about any supplement you take.

I am flabbergasted. I had no idea silica in any form could heal back and shoulder pain, but this horsetail silica did. In a few days after starting this supplement, I found that my achy shoulders stopped bothering me. And nighttime arthritis in my joints was gone. But I didn't buy it for that! I bought it for the effect on skin and hair, since I don't get silica in my diet. That helped improve my prematurely saggy, dry skin be more elastic and moist. Good stuff.
