Fantastic Cheese Slicer!!
I am so impressed with this cheese slicer!! I have been looking for one that could handle a large block of cheese and looked through so many reviews and videos until finding this one that others had given great reviews for also. I wanted one that actually had a blade like a knife, and not one of those wires that stretch out and aren't precise. I also liked the fact that it is made in Germany. So I figured it was worth giving it a try and I was NOT disappointed!! I sliced an entire large block of cheese for sandwiches and it worked perfect every single slice! You can get a very very thin slice or a much thicker slice with an easy turn of the dial. And cleanup is very easy - just be careful when washing the blade because it is very sharp. Well worth it's price!!

One of my favorite kitchen gadgets!
I bought this slicer over 3 years ago and it has never left my counter top. My family loves cheese! This baby cuts to whatever thickness you want. It is strong and very sharp! Easy to use and clean. I never expected this to last this long and it works as well as it did on day one. Well worth the price!

Works well. Not sure if it is worth the price.
So far I have only used it for cheese. Hard cheeses such as cheddar, young brick or gruyere slice great as I like it very thin. Forget using with soft cheese, aged brick, Port Salut, etc. You lose a lot of the cheese sticking to the slicer. Fairly easy to clean but a stiff brush with at least 3/4 inch bristles is needed as it does not disassemble for cleaning and you need to get into nooks and crannies. Also, there is no safety for the razor sharp blade and the blade arm swings freely. Be careful. The slice thickness scale is in millimeters and goes from 0-30 (up to about 1.2 inches) but I can't actually open mine beyond 18mm, the screw adjustment mechanism just clicks and snaps back to 18 if you try to go past it. That is a 0.70 inch thick slice which is pretty thick. The blade is 5 in long ( 12.5 cm), so if you have a large block of cheese it may need to be cut into manageable chunks.I haven't tried vegetables yet but I am pretty sure my adjustable thickness mandolin would work better. However, I will buy a salami to test it on soon. Most cheeses and sausages do not slide well on a mandolin's surface making it difficult to slice them that way.$25 is a lot for a hunk of plastic and a razor blade but if it works well with the sausage, I will be satisfied with the purchase.Update: I have tried the slicer with a summer sausage with mixed results. It is just barely adequate for thicker slices and mangles thinner slices. I had to remove the plastic skin from the sausage to get any decent slices. The blade had trouble making a clean slice through the skin. Summer sausage is softer than salami which will be my next trial.

It WORKS
I have a mandolin, I have a wire cheese slicer, I have one of those slide across the top slicers- I have a charcuterie board that up till today I’ve been adding shredded cheeses-veggies etc. That my family basically has to scrape onto plates and then transfer the shredded mess from plate to mouth- the teen boys discovered some uncharastic methods thus shambling my elegant dinner entree- a true amusè bouchè Now my arthritic hands have THIS slicer. It works! I can now without pain and without shredding everything to bits present an elegant party worthy charcuterie board! Thank you- product rates five stars for pain-free ease of use. The product rates five stars to creating perfectly sliced-cubed items (can use for all sorts of foods-the slicer rates five stars for construction. I compared other items- there are five stars for price point as the materials, engineering, design and functionality are far better than the models that cost a wee bit less. The price makes this well designed ergonomic tool a must for any modern kitchen. I would rate with a universe of stars if I could. This product is worth having . The product rates a billion stars for giving me a chance to teach the above mentioned teen boys a bit of manners whilst “enjoying” an elegant tea presented by grandma.

Best cheese slicer for me
I have been using this type of cheese slicer for about 40 years. This is an updated version from same company. It is imported from Germany. Old one has held up wonderfully but I wanted a spare new one as well. The blade has been slightly modified but does seem sturdy. I purchased several for gifts for Christmas for friends and relatives. Although advertised as slicer for sausage, lettuce etc. I would say it is really best intended for cheese. You can slice paper thin slices if desired or thicker as needed. The dial for setting thickness is not useful for me since I find it easier and faster to just rest the cheese block along back and push along with my hand as I slice away. Works great for those Costco blocks of imported or domestic cheese although sometimes I need to divide into 2 pieces to fit on slicer. Although I am basing my review mostly on old slicer, I have now tried the new one and it seems to work as well. Cheese lovers will probably love this simple, efficient slicer as I have.Update December 2016. I now have about 42 years experience using this type of slicer. To address some comments I would like to say remember it is best as a cheese slicer although I sometimes use to thin slice onion or mushrooms. Just watch your fingers. Cut larger cheese blocks to manageable size, wrap the rest for another day and slice smaller piece. You can get paper thin cheese slices with some experience by learning to push cheese gently into direction of blade while watching your fingers. Cleaning has never been problematic. Buy a dish washing brush with handle to clean. Drip dry in dish rack. I use this several times a week and bought my second slicer 2 years ago expecting my plus 40 year slicer to break at some point. I now use both.Update March 2025. Yup, still going strong!
