Beautiful wording but, not what I was looking for
I liked how the author immerses you in her vision of boudoir. Her wording is very poetic and nothing short of fun to read. Unfortunately, it did little to advance my understanding of posing for boudoir, learning to light a subject for boudoir or to sell boudoir photography to women who aren’t already pursuing a photographer for that purpose. She goes into posing very minimally; offering a small handful of poses that don’t work and then showing small adjustments to make them more successful. The problem is that even though she does make an honest effort to explain WHY some poses don’t work, she doesn’t offer any guidelines to creating your own poses. You’ll be able to use the handful of poses in her book but that’s about it. She also doesn’t really teach anything about setting up lighting. She lightly touched on it but, if you don’t already have a good grasp on lighting your subjects, this book will not help you. Buy this book if you want to hear someone passionately speak about an art form they love. It will also teach about providing an immersive environment for your clients. She does an incredible job for that. Do not buy this book to learn boudoir lighting, posing or selling boudoir as a business.

invaluable resource, you’re going to love it
The media could not be loaded. Author Jessica Lark treats boudoir photography as a holistic experience. Her theory goes beyond lighting and props and clothing, and reaches the essence of every woman. How does your client see herself? Does she feel romantic, primal, voyeuristic, sensual, erotic? Capture her image of herself. This intriguing work gets to the heart of any woman’s inner goddess. This comes from not only understanding your clients well, but also knowing yourself. Lark takes the time to put the reader through exercises designed to figure out your own personal sources of inspiration. What are you drawn to? That can help to define just how your ideal client will be drawn to you.Beyond telling you how to pose a client, the book also goes into what not to do. For timeless art, author Lark helps you, the reader, get to your own passion. And in that way, you will get to your clients’ passions. It’s not about explicitness. It’s all about seduction. To explore your clients’ motivations and learn what makes their self-images tick, this book is an invaluable resource, you’re going to love it!

Eye opening in clear form
I really enjoyed this read. The author Has a crystal clear view of composition with regard to the human body. From preparation to posing, from language to lighting, the author brings much to light with regard to the reason she is successful in this art. With the utmost clarity, I fully understand that the art is about the client, not the photograph. Perseverance behind the camera with emphasis on client and atmosphere are paramount. In closing, I was extremely impressed with her recognition of friends and family that have helped her understand along the journey of her profession. Kudos to you all. I have just started studying this art in a dramatic switch from landscape. I hope someday to be able to publish my success to the inspiration of this author and book. Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! So many awesome tips and tricks from an artist who photography I really admire. The photos in this book are just as informative as the words, especially the thought progression images that show the slight changes as they are made, and how they affect the final image! Highly recommend!

Beautiful Book!
It has been a long time since I have read a book cover to cover, but this one is so beautifully informative that I didn't want to put it down. This book isn't about lighting diagrams. It is about the small, but important, things that make this genre of photography beautiful and powerful. Love it.

A book for all.
This book's content offers freshness to photography that I have never in encountered in written material. Yes it will certainly benefit photographers who listen, but it will also enhance our experiences with others. Therefore I believe this book applies to photographers and everyone that is not a photographer. Thank you, Jessica Lark, for elegantly recording your insights for all of us.

Not very instructional or useful
If I could get a refund on this purchase I probably would... The content is written in a highly artistic and non-technical manner that makes getting actual information from the pages near impossible. The entire context seems to be getting your subjects in the mood and capturing non-tangible aspects of the style. There is next to nothing in the way of actual instruction of lighting i.e. where to play lights for what effect etc. Posing isn't discussed in any great detail other than to refer to make it sound like some sort of spiritual expression vs. the how's and where's.Essentially if you're looking for a textbook or something more instructional than a discussion of moods, feelings, and such then get a different book. I was pretty disappointed and can't see this book being very useful other than to suggest potential clients read it. It's a book for people that want to be subjects and not photographers.

Keine Kaufempfehlung.
