Nice Talking With You Level 1 Student's Book

Good product and good seller

Very good text for beginning-beginning high ESL students.

I taught ESL in Asia. I had such a difficult time getting my students to open up, to really try speaking English. The book we had to use was very grammar-based and filled with lots of dialogues that students had to perform. The classes were dull and the students seemed bored. The next year, a new coordinator, a woman who used to teach in Japan showed me Nice Talking with You and explained how it worked. I tried it, and it's been my favourite textbook ever since. The topics are simple for ESL students, the CONVERSATION STRATEGIES are easy to teach and simple for students to understand, and they really pick up the phrases FAST! The audio for the book can be downloaded from the book's website, so we don't have to spend class time doing listening activities-- students do it at home. If you're an ESL teacher, and you have to teach speaking classes, this is the textbook to use. (The Amazon price seems a little high -- I got it locally for about $11 US :-)
