I used a traditional motor before this purchase on my Cypress grill and the flare-ups were horrible due to slower speed
I bought two of these motors since I have 2 Souvla grills. I used them for Labor Day cook out and they performed flawlessly. I had both of them going for over 2 hours at variable speeds and had no issues at all. Running the Rotisserie at fast speed prevented flare-ups almost to zero. I used a traditional motor before this purchase on my Souvla grill and the flare-ups were horrible due to slower speed. These motors allow speed adjustment, which not only reduces flare-up, but also allow slower cooking for tougher cuts; faster speed allows slower cooking, since the meat is not exposed to the fire as much. Excellent product!!

WELL BUILT!!!
i bought one to try as a power feed on my china mini mill x3. it works so good i bought another one for my mini lathe to slow down the standard feed. they are very well built not sheet metal. the output will fit a common 1/4 socket size. i use a 1/4in. ujoint and extentions for drive shaft. it has enough power to use for many applactions. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!

Phffft [and Not]
I'm torn between giving this fewer or more stars. After only a one or two hours of use, the reverse switch only allows it to turn one direction.Too, as others warned, this motor is noisy, suggesting it is cheaply made. Of course, if you don't have to sit or stand next to it, the constant grumble of the motor is no problem. This aside, I went in knowing it might be noisy, since that complaint rose several times, in other reviews. I don't believe a bit of noise should be a deal breaker, since it's no real indicator of reliability, and, if used for its intended purpose, the little bit of noise it makes running shouldn't be a huge problem for most. That the unit lost it's reversing capability after only a few uses is disheartening. Of course, if this is just a unique defect, it's a fine unit for the money and intended use. I don't remember other complaints about a problem with reversing direction, so give this part of the complaint it's due only to the extend it might be an indicator of other problems with build quality.Just for reference, I bought this to make a slow turning lathe-like tool for painting small spindles. For that, which is far less work than it would do turning a couple roasters, it works fine [but I do want my counter-clockwise-revolution capacity back].

Do not buy this, poor design and customer support. Power supply not rated for Outdoor Use
Power supply stopped working after 5 uses over a year. Just now realized the power supply is not rated for outdoor use. I've emailed the company was told it is backordered and they'd let me know when it was back in stock in late December...never heard back from them. At this point I am just going to post a review about my experience and wait to see if the company shows any understanding of customer service. I;ve had issues with it since it got it. It does not like any type of heat as it transfers from the spit to the motor resulting in the motor to pause and eventually stop turning. Emailed them back in the summer and was told that was "normal" as it shuts down when overheating. There is a reason this motor is 70 bucks an comparable commercial rotisserie motors are hundreds of dollars.
