Superman Vs. Darkseid Paperback – May 12, 2015

I knew of Darkseid from the Superman animated series in the 90s. I never knew he was as powerful as he was until after I read this book.

Superman vs Darkseid contains massive battles between the Man of Steel and Darkseid the evil ruler of an extradimentional planet, Apokolips. A foe Superman doesn't need to hold back on.

The classic battle of good vs evil on a level worthy of the greatest hero of all time.

Not bad, bounces around a lot. Little hard to follow.

If you like Darkseid and Kal-El fights, you will sure like this book. Get this book if you like great battles, Superman and or Darkseid.

This book starts with a Darkseid story arc from the 90's, goes to the Superman/Batman comic from the early 2000's and ends with Countdown and The Death of the New Gods from around 2010. Unfortunately, you really get to see how different writers show Darkseid's power levels, but in each of these adventures, Superman does what he always does and fights against the tyrannical devil from Frank Kirby's New Gods. Fun for long-time fans of Superman, and an interesting look at different clashes between these behemoths of the page for fans of comics in general.

Darkseid's arrogance and ambition drive him ever onward to become the most powerful being in the cosmos. It was inevitable that he would cross paths with Superman and that Darkseid would despise Superman's life of service.A great compilation of Darkseid stories including some classic John Byrne and an instalment of the superb 'Countdown to Infinite Crisis'. The developing artwork shows artists who are keen to show Darkseid as an existential threat to Superman.

Not really that great. It's just a collection of different encounters with Darkseid.

Der Band ist ein Sammelsurium von Geschichten aus fast dreissig Jahren DC Comics, die Begegnungen zwischen Superman und Darkseid aufzeigen.Wer von "The New 52" und "Rebirth" keine Ahnung hat (2011 bzw. 2016), wird sich zum Teil über die unterschiedliche Darstellung der handelnden Personen wundern.Ebenfalls Fragwürdig ist die Beteiligung des letzten Teils von "Death Of The New Gods (2007)" hierin, besteht die Serie doch aus acht Teilen, die mit der Zerstörung aller neuen Götter beendet wird - nur um dann in diesem Sammelband in der nächsten Geschichte wieder zum Leben erweckt worden zu sein.Die unterschiedlichen Zeichner wissen zu überzeugen, können aber den Gesamteindruck nicht weiter heben, als über ein "Gut".Immerhin erwarte ich diese Qualität.Fazit: wer den Band geschenkt bekommt und/oder für wenig Geld kaufen kann, soll getrost zugreiffen. Im Grossen und Ganzen bringt er jedoch einem Fan der "New Gods" keine neuen Erkenntnisse. Am besten hält man sich an die Originale, bzw. die kompletten Geschichten, die zumeist einen Anfang, eine Mitte und ein Ende bieten.
