Mosaic: Breakthrough, Book 5

Each book in the series is unique, adding another layer to the continuing story. All of the books revolve around extraordinary animals who appear to have been dramatically enhanced through close contact with an alien ship and its cargo. As usual, there are bad guys who want to exploit the discoveries and everyone thinks that their agenda is the most important. Th main characters are the good guys and are at times even fighting against other Americans. It's a fast paced thrill ride with a unique storyline.

Science fiction and the US Navy; what's not to like? Other than a few Navy prepared minor errors, which civilians will likely not notice, a very enjoyable part of the series.

I liked the way each story connects with the previous ones. The characters continue to grow and evolve. The possibilities are very interesting and tend to make me wish I could be with them as they do the work. I just finished book 5 and am looking forward to book 6 of the series. Keep them coming. I'm an 80 year old book worm. I love to imagine myself in the water with the dolphins.

This book in the series was the most like a roller coaster ride so far. So much emotion was dredged up for me that I had to take breaks. It's hard to imagine some of the descriptions of the alien ship and the vaults but I do my best. I can appreciate Mr. Grumley's time and effort that went into the research of the topics in this series. With every book, you just can't help but love Caesare and Clay even more. They're like superheroes.

By page count, I’ve spent so many with these characters that I’m not ready for the series to be over. This book here was massive in size and in content. I’m a bit nervous that the next and final book, which sits at almost 400 pages, isn’t going to be long enough to wrap up the story. I’m looking forward to the next book, and hoping I’m wrong about Palin.

This installment in the Breakthrough series is astounding. It has the perfect blend that one comes to expect from a thriller. The science and technology is compelling and parallels some of the current research. Breakthrough is a perfect title for this series. The science fiction elements are not over the top but rather believable and harmonize well with the other four books in this series. With that said, the reader is advised to read the first four books first. Different cultures and how they interact and react dynamically are explored and presented. Historical and geographical information is provided to place the story line in real historical places and real time frames.As with the other books in the Breakthrough series, there is strong character development. Grumley does an excellent job of developing the characters and their interpersonal relationships. A little romance is present and adds a little spice but it is not over done. He also develops the relationships between the animals and the humans that reveal their genuine care for each other and dependence upon each other. There is a subplot in which one of the species is curious about the world of humans. I will not describe how Grumley deals with it because it would spoil the surprise.There is political intrigue that makes you think about the political climate present today. Grumley doesn’t attempt to make any political statement but uses these rogue agents and agencies as a subplot that threatens the main plot. It is a fictional literary work not a present day political commentary. It is a work of fiction but it gives you much to think about. His political adaption serves the story line well.This story wouldn’t be a story without the animals. They are so amazing and lovable. The reader will fall in love with these amazing creatures. The dangers and adventure for them, as well as the human characters, are more intense. The reader will find the more situations the animals get into, the more the reader heart strings are pulled. These creatures are that lovable and moving.At the end of this long novel, Grumley left us with much to think about and longing for the next installment. The novel is a little long but it keeps your interests so that even after 400 pages you can’t believe you are at the end. As with all the books, the story also speaks about the author. What was he thinking? I was talking with a writer who was using the writing studio at the bed and breakfast we were both staying at in Colorado. As we talked about plot development, we both agreed that when a story gets in your head it is all you think about. But when it gets in your heart, it becomes ink on paper. Without a doubt, Grumley’s head and heart are in this wonderful series.Thank you Michael for another great installment in the Breakthrough series. We, and I speak for many, are ready for the next one.

You can not willingly put this book down. Si Fi at is best, intrigue, military, the entire series is non stop drama

Thought provoking, intriguing, left wondering how much is the author's imagination and much is based in actual science. On to the next book.

Each book gets better and better, drawing you in so much you have to remind yourself that it’s fiction. Wait. It is fiction, right ?It’s a great read. I’d give more than five stars if I could.

Have his completed the 5 book series without a break & thoughoroly enjoyed it, found it difficult to put down to attend to normal life requirements.Some sections very thought provoking and uncanny with what is going on with USA politics act at moment.Enjoyed the way the story was written & the return of the story.Cannot wait for book 6

I am unable to put into words how Michael C Grumley’s novels give me so much pleasure and joy. Uplifting and inspirational, the possibilities of communication with our animal cousins, especially the special ones we bond with in our lives is something to really look forward to. Thanks again Michael for this new journey. Can’t wait for the next novel.
