My Koham experience
My Koham experiencesSeveral years ago, I bought a Chinese battery powered pair of Koham clippers(shears) - #1. About $200.00. They worked great. Bought a second pair for my daughter (#2).Wife broke #1 trying to cut a large limb. Broke the moving arm that holds the moving blade. You cannot contact Koham.Ordered a new set (#3). The new set (#3) would not charge the batteries & the shears did not work. Returned to Amazon for credit. Amazon will not return your money; they only give Amazon credit. There is not way to contact the Chinese company Koham.Ordered a 4th set. One battery would charge but the second one would not. Shears worked. Returned for credit.Ordered a 5th set. Batteries would not charge. Shears worked with old battery from set #1.Measured the voltage of the new batteries. About 2.5 and 4.9 volts respectfully. Should have been 20+ volts. Most small chargers will not charge(work)on a battery with very low voltage. Took a battery from my weed eater, used small clip jumpers, and boosted the voltage of the new non-working batteries to about 17 volts. The new charger started working and the batteries fully charged.Tried out the new shears (#5) on some small limbs. It would not cut a limb as large as my little pinkie finger.Took the moving arm off the new (#5) shears and installed it on the old (#1) set.We have 3 large muscadine vines that require a lot of trimming. The Kohan shears(clippers) works great on these when they are working+-.Love Amazon’s return policy. Only wish there was a way to talk to an actual human.

Fantastic tool, confirmed the safety features
Fantastic product. Everything works as advertised and it does have two additional features not mentioned in the owners manual. There are two different opening sizes. Once you have it powered on and operating hold the trigger key for one long beep then release the trigger. This step can be used to toggle between each of the two opening settings. The other feature is an important safety feature that I have read other users are having trouble provin but it does work. This safety feature prevents the blades from closing if your fingers or hands come into contact with the blade.DEMONSTRATE THE SAFETY FEATURE:Hold the shears as you normally would.Be sure to keep your finger on the metal trigger. Now pull the trigger a few times to ensure the tool is working correctly. Now place a finger on the bottom side of the OUTSIDE of the bottom jaw. You should here two quick beeps and now the tool won’t close the jaws. To re-enable the tool again pull the trigger two times fast. Again you will here two fast beeps and the tool will function correctly again!THE WAY IT WORKSThe safety feature is enabled by completing an electrical circuit. The index finger on the trigger is the first point of contact. When you place your finger or hand on the outside of the lower jaw that is the second point of contact and the circuit is closed by using your body as the conductor between those two points.Even though this tool has this safety feature, NEVER PLACE YOUR FINGERS OR HAND INSIDE THE BLADES!I hope this helps to explain this safety feature. I am really surprised that the manufacturer didn’t include this information in the user manual.

These are incredible pruners
This has been my best purchase I think of all time. Needed something I didn't have to "fill up", or use cords with as we have about 3/4 of an acre of woods behind our home with big trees and a lot of underbrush. In two days I have cleared probably a 40' x 150' area of underbrush, low hanging tree limbs, huge old briar clusters that have been there for probably 30 years and vines. The sheers are incredibly easy to use and the battery life is exceptional. I worked almost continuously for seven hours on the same battery without weakness or running down. You do get two batteries and a charger. Follow the instructions and clean the blades when you are done, oil the blades through the port in the nut area of the sheers twice daily, and these should service you many years. Worth the price and don't buy the ones online that come from China for a cheap price, I did because they were on sale and got taken; they sent a cheap pair of hand sheers and a plug that goes to nothing. Stick with these, you will get what you pay for.

frustrating, too complicated.
I am pruning suckers on hazelnuts. The shears will work fine when cutting through a branch that is held horizontally. But when I try to cut exactly the same diameter branch while laying on the ground with the shears held horizontally, it will not cut it. I didn't even know about about the finger protection until I read some online reviews. Maybe this is the problem but I do not know why it would sometimes cut a branch and other times not- the same branch! So this tool is useless to me for this job; maybe I can find some use for it. I have another cordless pruner that was one third the price and it works fine without all of the annoying beeping and complicated blade movements.Amendment to review-Finally figured out the finger protection. If there is anything touching the back of the bottom blade when you press the trigger, it will not cut. This includes other branches! When I separate the suckers enough to give the pruners enough space, they work great. Very strong and quick.

Greatest thing ever!
The most spectacular gift for me ever! I live in a wooded area and dead branches on bushes and trees in my back yard on a 1 acre lot have been my plague! My husband ordered these as my birthday gift but gave them to me way early, thank goodness! I love them! So does he! They plow through a heavy 1" branch like it's butter! I would have given 5 stars but we are unable to find replacement blades. I suppose we have gotten our money's worth out of them but it does seem that all of the battery operated pruning shears do not have replacement blades. The batteries for each brand are not interchangeable either so be sure to buy one with 2 backup batteries. This particular KOTHAM is no longer available. I bought a different one for gifts though and they liked them.
