Brilliant, easy to clean and worth paying the extra for
I used this to cut perfectly sliced roast beef. I have used a different slicing machine before at my parents. This machine seems much more robust and much easier to clean. Only took a few mins where as my parent's machine seems more fiddly to dismantle and clean. Also with my parents one, you have to have your finger constantly on the button to operate, which means you don't have a hand free to take the meat slices. With this machine there is a safety start button system in place so you cannot accidentally switch on. Once on, the blade continues to rotate until you switch it off. Although I can understand that the design of my parents machine is a safety feature...I actually thought this machine is in a lot of ways much better and equally safe as since the machine is running and you don't have to concentrate on how firmly you are having to hold the on button, it means you are free to concentrate on slicing your meat and as long as you use the sliding meat holder your hands and fingers are safely away from the blade plus you have the other free the other side to catch the slices as they are produced similar to a professional machine I used when I worked in a butchers years ago slicing bacon. The adjustable dial clearly shows the thickness in millimetres so you know exactly the thickness of your slices unlike my parent's one that you have to adjust and try until you have the desired cut. There are cheaper machines on the market however you get what you pay for. The main body housing the blade is stainless steel, unlike my parent's which is plastic making it durable and easy to clean and the new modification on the slide bar allows you to remove the section that slides the meat across the blade of for easy cleaning where as the previous version didn't so you had to clean around the slide bar. I'm very impressed and pleased with it's performance and is definately worth paying the extra for.I would point out that when in use these machines do create an amount of meat fragments which collect on the worktop under the machine as with cutting wood your get sawdust, these are easily wiped up after removing the machine from the worktop. NOTE: if you're a cat or dog owner these tiny tasty meaty bits are a welcome treat on top of their regular pet food!

Great device
Brilliant meat slicer, we use this every 2 weeks to cut meat joints up for sandwiches. So easy to use. Easy to clean. You can pick the thickness you want the slices. Does it super quick. It's better to do it when the meat is cold.

A handy way to slice joints of meat, etc.
This slicer works well and for he price, is good value for money. The blade doesn't spin as fast as commercial slicers and it doesn't cut as cleanly either. I have marked it down a star because the blade is serrated (to cut bread etc.) but that and the lower speed means that it does produce crumbs of meat when slicing joints and you end up with some crumbs as well as slices. A non-serrated blade wouldn't do this, but then the blade would have to spin faster which would potentially be less safe. My only other niggle is that is harder to clean afterwards due to the little edges and joints, but for the price and the ease of slicing joints of meats to different thicknesses, it is 4 stars from me and recommended.

Great slicer that is easy to use
After my first attempt I can say that this is an excellent bit of machinery. Very easy to use and the instructions of how to use are easy to figure out but don't have the best translation into English. My first attempt was with a lump of meat. The serrated blade made cutting through a breeze and the thickness was simple to select with the measurements printed on the unit. It did however cut leaving a wedge on the joint of meat after a few cuts but this might be more user error than the machine itself. Simply spinning the meat made it go away. The width of the machine is about as big as a large chopping board and is the hight of a medium sized pan. On the base is four suction cups that hold it in place on the worktop. Definitely worth buying if you want to slice your own sandwich meat or cheese.

Excellent purchase - recommended
Brilliant machine, especially as I got it at a bargain price. Good and substantial with suckers on the feet to keep it stable. Used to slice home cooked ham and it did a brilliant job. Makes the ham go further because I got more slices out of it, with them being thinner and more regular slices. I also intend to use it for homemade bread. Definitely recommend.

Works well - great value!
Easy to operate, well guarded and safe in operation. The 'On' switch doesn't need to be held, which leaves both hands free. This machine is way safer to use than a sharp knife and gives quite consistent thickness of sliced meat.It easily sliced up a 1.5Kg joint of bacon in a few minutes.N.B. It's well worth semi-freezing the meat first, to firm it up before slicing. This machine is never going to compete with far more expensive, industrial slicers, but for using at a 'serious kitchen' level, it's very good value. The slicer is easy to dismantle and clean, which is reassuring from a hygiene perspective.
