Ceramic Studio: Hand Building Paperback – February 7, 2012

I like the book - I wish it had more information - such as the steps one took to get the pieces shown in the book. I think it does for some items, but not the ones I wanted. I wanted to know what kind of paint they used, the entire process from start to finish. But there are some overall helpful hints in the book.

I've only just received this book today but I couldn't be more thrilled w/ it! It's exactly what I, an experienced artist but newbie to ceramics, needed. It's been almost 40 years since I last touched clay so I am really starting out w/ next to no knowledge. I'm only just pages into the book and have already learned far more tun I expected so quickly. If you're new to or at least a relative novice at working with clay, this book is a must-have. I couldn't wait to write a review for it.

I recently got back into pottery after being away from it for over 10 yrs. While taking some classes at the local community center I purchased this book. It was just enough information for someone new to more advanced techniques and helped me come up with questions to ask my instructor. When I took the book in to show him I discovered that he had the same book as a reference and he loved it as well. For me it helped guide me further with my work. I would strongly recommend to a friend.

Although I have done ceramics, I've never taught it before. This has been a wonderful resource for teaching ideas and projects. It takes you through each project and technique step-by-step and also has a gallery of fun examples, which appeal to high school students. I use this more than any other ceramics book I purchased to help me prep for teaching. This little book has been invaluable!

I bought this book to use in a ceramics class that I was taking. I reviewed the book with the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon and decided to order it. It arrived promptly. It is well illustrated and is well written with plenty of detailed examples and techniques. Some of the other students in my class were equally impressed with this book and seemed interested in purchasing one as well. Great book for beginners and advanced potters as well. I was taking an advanced pottery class....

This is the perfect book for the beginner ceramicist . I can't fault it. It has everything in it that you need to know to start . It also contains step by step projects to help you develop your skills . There are many beautiful examples of ceramic works to inspire you . It is simply, but well written and beautifully presented .

I have done a lot of hand building over the years and but I still found some helpful ideas in this book. I would recommend it to anyone who is just getting started with the skill. The instructions are clear and helpful. The projects are not intimidating for beginners. Loved the galleries of other artists' work. Truly Inspiring.

This book is a great resource for ideas and gives a solid grounding in hand-building technique. The photos and suggested projects make really good guides if you're teaching classes as it helps people visualise the possibilities of the various methods. It's really well put together with loads of useful information and beautiful photographs. I'd recommend it as a good addition for any potter.

Really like this book - clear photos and has inspired me to create some different styles using slabs.

I really like this book. It's full of ideas and challenging projects to do yourself. Most of the projects are easy to do with clear instructions and illustrations.
