I got a full refund from Amazon, so I'll give this 2 stars instead of one, but the unit died within minutes of plugging it in. The claim was this was configured for North America, but in the brief minutes I was able to look at menus, I was only mid east and Asian sats listed, and was never able to get it to actually receive anything. The "blind scan" function was not obvious, and I never did find it, and the owners manual (on the CD only -- nothing on paper) provided no insight.Customer 'disservice' was clearly not fluent in English, and couldn't understand me when I said it 'refused to turn on' and wanted me to provide photos of menus. When I reiterated there WERE no menus because it wouldn't turn on, they simply stopped responding. Amazon provided prompt and appropriate refund, but not so pleased with the seller/manufacturer. I wish I had gotten one that worked so I could provide better insight into the device itself!

Got this on sale at Amazon for roughly the cost of going out to dinner one evening with my wife, can't complain about about the price. When I first hooked it up, I was not very happy, had lots of problems with audio not working on channels, and not scanning in all of the channels that it should have. So, before returning it, I upgraded the firmware to the latest version. Presto. That did the trick. Works like a champ now. Only things I don't like so far are the clock running seemingly very fast, and when it is turned off, the unit is a little warmer than I would expect, thinking about seeing if it is really only 1W as advertised. Again, for what I paid, I don't mind needing to update the firmware to get it to work. It has been working great. I am using it with a Avenger Universal Ku Band Dual LNBF PLL322S-2 and a GEOSATpro 36"/90cm FTA Satellite Dish pointing at AMC21 125W to get PBS channels for the kids. I have purchased 3 other different model receivers from X2SAT and I like them all since they are a great value and still working fine (installed in different rooms and at houses of relatives).

An inexpensive but good product....

This receiver is working just fine for me to receive FTA satellite. The instructions are adequate for any slightly technical person. The on-screen menus are easily found and understood.

Difficult receiver to work with. Was not able to access a submenu to input vital information.
