They say vibration stimulates bloodflow, which helps tissues heal faster -- but for me, this device is INSTANT relief as well. Unlike many others, it does not poke and prod -- it just generates good strong (but not TOO strong) vibration. It seems to disrupt the tension in the muscles, which breaks the vicious cycle of tension-which-creates-pain-which-creates-MORE-tension-which-creates-MORE-pain... for me, it's like turning off a switch. Twenty minutes with this after a rough day eases stiffness and resets everything.It really does a lot of good! It's made for the neck, but you can lean any part of your back against it and use pillows as needed to get comfortable. (I do wish the company made one in a plain pillow form too, though.) You can use either of two vibration settings, you can add heat to either setting, or you can use heat alone. And it shuts off automatically every 15 minutes or so, so you can safely fall asleep with it. I keep a pillowcase on mine so it stays clean -- you can easily feel the controls through the fabric.

my friend had this exact same one, so I got to try it out first and decided I needed my own.my neck is pretty consistently stiff, and I found relief with this. nothing beats the skillful hands of a trained massage therapist, but this device can hold you over in between sessions.I will lay with this on my neck until it times out and by the end of it I am usually almost asleep.the humming of the vibration also puts me into a meditative trance like state.definitely worth the money for me.

There are things I'd like to improve this neck massager, but on the whole, I like it. I wish it was softer and more flexible, and could wrap on so I didn't need to pull on the straps. I wish it would stay on longer than 15 minutes. In an attempt to make it stay on without needing to pull on the straps, I decided to slip one loop into the other loop and insert a tennis ball. Though not perfect, it now allows it to stay in place with SOME pressure, without pulling on the straps. If there was another model that addressed these issues, I'd gladly replace it, but I can't find one.

I generally like this neck massager, but the quality is atrocious. This newest one I bought less than three months ago, and today it stopped working completely. Amazon refused to accept a return and forced me to deal with HoMedics directly, who refuse to do refunds and will only exchange. Once I jumped through all their hoops to exchange (including sending them a half dozen photos of the product), they sent me a water-damaged neck massager as replacement. The box was literally gray around all the edges and disintegrating. I sent them photos of that but they still made me ship that piece of garbage back to them to get another replacement! Unbelievably bad customer service. Will never buy from them again. Buyer beware that you cannot get a refund or exchange of this product through Amazon and will have to deal with the manufacturer. And the quality of the product is so bad, you undoubtedly will have to. Good luck!

I purchased this item to help with relieving pain. It massaged but did not heat.Not allowed to return it.I need a refund.

Having suffered with migraines in the past, I try to have one of these on hand. As I use it often, the cord eventually stops working or the motor goes. I immediately go to my backup. When a migraine arrives you need a WORKING unit. That being said, I now have a shoulder injury. I’ve been using it for that; setting it more behind me to the left of the right shoulder blade. It’s wonderful. I’ve tried others but this one is ‘my buddy’. I just wish the power cord latest longer.

I ordered this specifically for recent neck discomfort. The shiatsu massager can be too harsh at times. Little did I realize how effective it would be on almost everything else that hurts. Wrapped around calf muscles, any area of the leg, hips, arms, hands, and even the foot area. It's flexible, lightweight and I love the heat feature. It provides soothing relief for such a reasonable price.

We found the the functionality of it to be poor. The heat is barely perceptible and the vibration is an unpleasant buzzing. We find it unusable. We want to return this item for a refund or at least for credit on amazon but the seller refuses returns. Be aware!

Sufro de Dolores constantes en el Cuello, por lo que adquirí el producto y la verdad es que me quedó a deber. En mi caso, requiero una potencia mucho mayor para aliviar el dolor. SÍ me ayudó a relajar, pero el dolor continuó. Lo he usado 2 veces y debo decir que no me inspira a usarlo más seguido porque además es incómodo. Y no sé si es porque soy pequeña, pero siento que no encaja bien en mi área del cuello y que por eso me hace falta de contacto con el aparato.De todas formas, debo decir que es una buena opción si no puedes acudir a un masajista.
