Very good reading
Very good translation. Reading Romanian history from a romanian’s perspective is very informative and the book is easy to read and follow unlike conventional history textbooks. It’s written from a romanian’s personal and intimate experiences and research.

Horrible translation, many typos
The translator might have used Google Translate, which I sort of understand, because there is no money in translations of historical works. t's too bad, because Nicolae Iorga is the authority on Romanian history. I hate to be mean, if you are going to do something, do it right. It's the history of our people, after all. Here are some examples of bad translation or typos picked at random:"“The new which broke out between the Emperor of Germany and the Infidels…”"“There was quite a German party, ready to summon the troops of Charles VI.”

You'd better know all about Romania BEFORE buying this book
The book is written by Nicolae Iorga, an extreme Romanian nationalist who was murdered in 1940 by even more extreme Romanian nationalists. He is so entranced by his subject that he assumes he doesn't really have to explain every reference to people such as the Illyrians, the Thracians, the Dacians, the Turanians, the Scythians, the Sarmatians etc. You'll know who they are, where they came from, and where they went. Likewise despite the book having only a couple of very rudimentary maps (or to be precise, only one that I could find) he talks airily of the regions of Romania, past and present - Oltenia, Moldavia, Wallachia, Transylvania, and the rivers, the Siret, the Pru, the Dniester, the Vedea, the Dambovita etc. etc. So don't buy this book unless (a) you already have an intimate knowledge of the geography and at least a basic knowledge of the history, or rather pre-history of Romania, or (b) you have an encyclopedia and a comprehensive map of the country and its surrounds.
