OEM Shimano Cables And Housing
The usual high quality you expect from all things Shimano. Everything you need for installation of mechanical deraileurs, brake/shifters, and calipers with every small part needed for the process. I won't use anything else.

cables
They work very well. Not sure how long they will last. But right now, shifting is very easy.

Typical Shimano quality part
Simply the best brake cable you can buy. Lasts a good long time between changes. Low stretch means no need to have to go back and adjust the brakes after the first couple of uses. Use a good quality casing cutter to prevent the casing from being crushed. Lots of colors available. I use white on my road bike, grey on trainer bike and black on my gravel bike. Lots of great mileage out of all of them.

Super smooth! Accurate color tone (on my screen at least). PERFECT for vintage Bianchi BLUE bike.
Works perfectly, as with ANY!! cable housing, use a "sacrificial" short length of old cable so the housing doesn't get crushed too much, then use an ice pick to smooth out burrs for the cut/crushed end. Basic black housing is fine, but I am glad Shimano is offering these unique colors (not only for style, but also to quickly id bike in Transition areas OR just in crazy crammed college racks).

Only two ferrules included? And no o-rings in them? What's up with that, Shimano?
The cables and housing are of good quality and work well. There was ample cable and housing for my road frame with side-pull brakes.I don't think the cable is PTFE coated (which is what the description says), but rather these have standard (stainless?) steel cables and PTFE-lined housings. PTFE-lined housings make a real difference in the feel of your brakes. You should still grease the cables, but the PTFE liner makes them slide with very little friction.I pre-stretched the cables by holding the cable against the housing with a pair of channel-locks and pulling the lever to the bar a few times, before cutting them down to size. (If you this, be sure to retract the cable into the housing before you cut it.) This aided installation, as I then only had to get the cable position right the first time, and the adjustment stayed put.Why these don't get a five-star review: It says that "all ferrules" to complete the job are included, but there are only two housing ferrules, and those two are not o-ring sealed. I only had two o-ring sealed ferrules on hand, so I used those at the lever side. What do they want me to do, leave them off? The cable ends are large and ugly, but get the job done. I've used much better looking ends that were made of less material.

Now my old bike Stops on a dime now with a one finger pull.
Shimano is the best.

Add a little color
I used red cables to match the accent colors on my bike. Looks great and a nice change from the standard black cables.
