Very Good Book on Beginning Weaving
I've never woven anything on a loom before, except maybe some pot-holders when I was a kid. I've knitted a lot of stuff but this is my first time at using a loom. I don't want to make a loom right now though the instructions on how to make a small loom are in the book. I bought one at the craft store and it's pretty good. I have many different types of yarns and even have some of my dog's fur (rest in peace my beloved Spitz) which is perfect for spinning and using as a texture for weaving. The projects are not overly complicated or difficult and they start easy and gradually get more complex. Lots of good pictures and instructions are included. I like this book and am looking forward to getting better at my woven creations.

The Woven Home
The book is well organized and carefully designed for the novice—which is what I am. The author walks the reader through the necessary tools for the craft and even includes details on how to make homemade looms. Beginning steps are clarified and broken down into manageable pieces. Then 18 projects are presented that start with the smaller less intimidating items, like a bookmark, to avoid discouraging the reader. The book ends with finishing techniques. The photographs are attractively presented and offer clear guidance. For the print book, it uses quality heavyweight paper and although the font size is tiny for most of the text, the majority is printed with black ink so it is readable. Only quibble is the pale color ink used for some headings which is difficult to read—all black ink is most helpful for instruction books. The book is an excellent starting point for beginners and may help spark creative ideas for an experienced weaver

Appreciate the Getting Started section
I selected "The Woven Home: Easy Frame Loom Projects to Spruce Up Your Living Space" by Rainie Owen because I had seen some weaving projects in DIY videos on Youtube. I was curious to learn more. It came at a good time because I preparing for a work trip that had me nervous and I wanted something repetitious that would help soothe my nerves. Not unsurprisingly, being a beginner and all, I wasn't quite soothed as I made my way through the Getting Started chapter and into the very simple first project of "Color block bookmark", but it was fun and it got my mind off my nerves. The Getting Started chapter is something to take into consideration for a beginner, because there are cost of tools and materials to think about. Whether one buys a loom or makes a loom, there is a cost. Then there are the materials and tools. I knew that going in but I was still kind of surprised at the time and cost. That isn't a reflection on the book but something to consider for the newbies like myself. What I like about the book is that the instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. The explanation of the tools and materials needed is also well done. I like the variety of projects even if I've kept mostly to projects that share similar materials because I'm not ready to invest more money in different materials just yet. That said, I do like that the variety of projects do exist should I want to expand. Finally, I like that the projects are useful. The title is "Woven Home" so the projects are for the home and meant to be used which makes this book both practical and creative.

Make Your Own Loom
I was pleasantly surprised that this book about weaving is based on building Our own inexpensive looms using dollar store wooden frames as the base. There are simple to understand directions for how to build your own loom. The basics such as in the importance of using the correct materials is clearly explained. After the basic building and how to, the book has many small home decor projects such as coasters to use under your coffee mug on wooden furniture. I think it’s a great idea to use in expensive materials to make your own room to save money. This can be a family project with kids or teens or adults can obviously use it solo. Rating 5 stars = Love It.

From beginner to regular weaver in no time
What a fun and creative way to use your time. This book shows you how easy weaving can really be. Whether you are a beginner or an expert there are plenty of ideas in this book to keep you busy. I really like all the pictures that help mark the process. I also like the charts created for the more interesting patterns. This author was even kind enough to show you how to make a loom instead of just telling you to buy one in such and such size. Each craft is labeled with the tools you will need and the yarn that she used in order to craft her design. I liked this fact because it can easily help a beginner who doesn't understand the different types of yarn. Oh and there is a section that shows you how to do different knots and stitches. This book has everything in it to really help a person weave. If you're interested in learning to weave this is a great book for you. It will have your hands busy in no time.
