Five stars are insufficient to rate this book. I would give it ten. It is so refreshing to read an astrology book that has no wasted words. This book is comprehensive and thorough, concise and to the point in every paragraph, with illustrations to clarify 'what is meant' and 'what is not meant.' If you are at all interested in 'traditional astrology' [and you should be] this is the book you want to begin your study--of 'real astrology.' It is destined to be a classic and will remain in your library 'for keeps.'It begins with the foundation of astrology, the 'hot and dry and moist and cold' orientation to the tropical zodiac and maintains that orientation throughout. It makes sense not only of the techniques of the ancients but also of their world view, how they saw the essence of the universe and captured that essence in their techniques. It takes you from the Earth-center to beyond the firmament and reveals a forgotten but marvelous rendition of the universe and its meaning to mankind. It is a practical book fully intended as a textbook and reference; it is encyclopedic in its coverage with a very complete table of contents. I have read it cover to cover and intend to start over tomorrow--and over again the following tomorrows. BUY IT!As a final comment, I would like to say "thank you" to Helena and Luis for writing this wonderful book.

I judged this book by its 'meh' cover, stupidly enough. The inside is wonderful! Straight forward instruction about astrology. The authors answered the 'why' behind teachings very well. Good diagrams and illustrations for visual learners. They didnt waste space or words. If I could change anything, I would add a glossary and an index, but I'm still giving 5 stars and I'm very glad I bought it.

I have been studying astrology for 25+ years. This text is used for a course I am currently taking and I must say it is by far one of the BEST texts for studying the multi-layered techniques of astrology. Well written. Easy to understand. A MUST have for anyone embarking on the study of astrology.

I got this book, because it was recommended by Kelly Surtees from KellysAstrology.com, but I love it. This book is full of beginner to advanced techniques that can improve the quality of your information when reading a chart. If you want to enhance your skill set. This book is worthwhile.

Superb course style textbook on traditional astrology. This book also am excellent foundation for anyone new to astrology or a modern, psychological astroger who wants to learn the real thing.

Very well written book on Traditional astrology. It covers the basic foundational knowledge required for a deep understanding of the science. The only thing I'm not certain about is the $40 price tag. However considering the quality of content I can see where the publisher came up with the high price. That being said I still feel it's really about a $30 manual.

It's a wonderful book that touches on many aspects of traditional astrology with clear explanations. I've been taking a course in traditional astrology and this book helps to clarify a lot of concepts which are unclear to me. I highly recommend this book to be studied with the Christian Astrology books by William Lily.

One of the best (if not THE best) books on Traditional Astrology, Written in a clear and objective approach without too many boring historical references. Unfortunately not available in original language - Portuguese.As to the delivery, must congratulate Amazon.com - arrived in Rio de Janeiro in less than a week.

This book has immediately become my new standard reference book. The best one you can buy on medieval astrology. I highly recommend the accompanying coursebook, as it is rather dense, and the order of presentation of the material follows a logical order and not one suited for a student, especially one new to the subject. The only fault I could find with the book it that it contains a lot of typos and editorial errors, which is plain sloppiness from publishers.
