What's there to say? Solid rod and works great and haven't had any problems like other's have with the paint flaking off. That maybe from the barrel solution that they're using, or not. I use Hoppes No. 9 and it hasn't affected the paint on the rod. If you need a solid bore rod for cleaning, don't hesitate, just buy it.

I purchased this after the cheap aluminum rod, that came in a different manufacturers cleaning kit, stripped out the first time I put it together.This is a quality cleaning rod that I expect to last a lifetime. This does come in a clamshell case but personally I don't like the case. It will work until my wife sews a roll pouch. This steel rod is covered with a thin red coating to protect the barrel. All the rod pieces fit perfectly without any binding. The handle freely spins and looks to be held in place with a brass bushing. The muzzle guard is useless for shotguns but it appears it can be used to keep the cleaning rod centered in the barrel when cleaning rifles.Contents:- 1 handle with nylon muzzle guard. Measures 6 3/8 inches to the guard.- 3 extension rods. Measures 6 3/4 inches excluding the threading.- 1 end rod. Measures 2 3/4 inches excluding the threading.- 1 brass shotgun adapter.- 1 shotgun patch holder.- 1 standard patch holder.Brushes and patch holders will only thread into the end rod. This gives you the following possible lengths measured from the end to the muzzle guard:- Handle + end rod = 9 1/8- Add one extension = 15 7/8- Add two extensions = 22 5/8- Add three extensions = 29 3/8I am very happy with this cleaning rod and would recommend it enthusiastically.

Nice set of rods. Only used a few times, since I just got them. Some of the other reviews I have seen issues with, and you know, sometimes things are user error. Been around firearms for 50 years , also an armorer. I would highly recommend. The only thing I would have liked is if it had come in a set with Jags, Brushes and Swabs. Two thumbs up.

The coated rods are the reason I use this.

Used this to clean my AK-47 and Glocks the red paint thats supposed to protect the rifling in the barrel from damage comes off pretty easily exposing bare metal and the patch holders are made of a cheap plastic they broke off right at the thread level so I had to dig and turn to get the broken piece out this happened the first time I cleaned my AK barrel pushed a patch thru I had to replace them with brass. This is nothing amazing I thought it would be something nicer than a regular old brass setup but I will be investing in an all brass setup this is not made to last.It does the job however its protective appeal the seller protrays rubbing off so easily makes it just another steel rod with cheap attachments.

Metal rods, with a red plastic(?) cover to prevent scrapping/damaging the bore.Only issue so far is the red cover can be removed/damaged easily.Anyway, even if the whole red thing fell off the rods will still be useful so no worries there.

Painted, when using the paint peals off and I have to go after paint specks, poor paint job, outside of that works great

Dissapointed because the red safety coating became soft and came off after a couple of uses. I clean my tools frequently because I use them quite a bit. This was showing the coating coming off after the first use. I would purcahse something else if I had to do it over again.
