Product and delivery as advertised
Delivered as promised and the CD is in like new condition. The case has a problem, but that's a nit and the disc itself more than makes up for that defect. Would use this vendor again.

Grimethorpe Colliery Band CD - songs used in 'Brassed Off' Movie
I've just (25 Jan 2010) received the 'Brassed Off' CD and am very pleased. If you want to hear the music played by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band ('GCB') not 'hidden' behind the movie audio then this is what you want. The pieces by the GCB are the pure recordings and don't have the movie soundtrack mixed in.I haven't had a chance yet to do a measured comparison between the music as mixed in to the movie soundtrack (I also have the 'Brassed Off' DVD) and what is on this CD but my initial impression is that the dynamic range of the music on the CD is significantly better than what was put into the movie (much motion picture audio has its dynamic range far too compressed ... in my opinion). If you like the sound of British brass bands then you should like this CD.

If you liked the movie, you will like the soundtrack
If you've seen the movie, it's obvious how the music can get your blood flowing. I didn't realize how much I like the brass band music until I saw the movie and then ordered the soundtrack. A couple tunes on the Soundtrack are more filler than substance, otherwise I'd have given it a 5 star.If you like the movie, you'll like the soundtrack.

Got What I Wanted
I really like the movie, "Brassed Off". I also really enjoy brass band music. One piece from the movie, "En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor", was impossible to find in that particular arrangement...Even the great Miles Davis album, "Sketches From Spain", didn't quite compare.Once again, Amazon came through with just what I wanted, and at a reasonable price. The only thing missing from the soundtrack was the late Pete Postlewaite's impassioned speeches...They are memorable.

Probably Best For Those Who Have Seen the Movie
I saw the movie on TV, and loved the scene where the band played Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. The Flugelhorn seems a bit muted, compared to the movie, but still very enjoyable. The CD has couple of very short tracks which leave you wanting more -- too bad they aren't longer.

Brass On!
An all-brass orchestra? This is more than a brass band, they play 'way more than marches. It was originated by English coal miners and the movie is based on their struggles. In the meantime these miners play like angels. Love this music. Original pieces were written for the movie but you will recognize many of the selections.

Excellent
My previous rating was a mistake. I misunderstood the CD for the DVD. The music on the soundtrack was first class. Stirring and well played.

The film's soundtrack... brilliant.
I love the film anyway and I love the oompah-pah-pah music. Rodrigo's Arunjuez mon Amour or 'Orange Juice' is one of my favourite pieces of music... and to be honest that is the main reason for me buying this CD album. However, somedays I like to listen to some brass band music in my car (sunny day driving to the coast).
