Great workout for a time crunch
I used to find Denise Austin annoying but I think as time has went on, she has actually started to grow on me. I'm one who doesn't like to workout at home since working out at home either entails an animal in the way, a child needing something, laundry calling, or 800 other things I need to be doing besides working out. So, if I am going to work out at home I want it short and sweet. This video did the trick. It wasn't so easy that I didn't work up a sweat but it wasn't so hard that I gave up after 5 minutes. I'd say it's a good beginner video or for when you're short on time. There's a body of water behind her in the video and I loved seeing that while I was working out! The dance steps aren't so difficult that someone who is not a born dancer can't figure out. It's not terribly rough for people that might have bad knees. I'd say this is a great all around video. Music isn't great but I rarely see an exercise dvd that does have good music. Just look at the waves and imagine yourself looking great when you head for the beach!

So much fun!
So a lot depends on what style of dancing you like. Personally, I LOVE this!! I am 40lbs overweight and 31 years old, but I was able to keep up. I did do a little dancing in high school though, so I know what dance steps she was referring to. Plus, the more you watch it, the more you'll get it down.As for hurting joints, you have to make sure you're doing it correctly with the twists. Going half way will hurt. You need to turn your whole body to achieve alignment. I'm sweating to death right now after completing the dance routines (seen on youtube) and look forward to my copy coming in the mail. I love Denise and all her perkiness and quirks. It makes it real fun for me!I've lost 5 lbs already with using her old 30 minute target toner and look forward to exercising with her each day!Thank you, Denise!! You are awesome! Never lose your great personality!

encouraging workout
I bought this video several months ago when I was pretty new at working out. I loved it then because I was able to keep up but it still made me sweat. My muscles definately felt the strength training the next day but not so much I didn't want to fit in my workout.I have bought many videos since and I always come back to this one after I become bored with the others. I still feel like I can get a good workout with it even though I'm in alot better shape now. You really get what you put into it. If I give it my all, I still work up a good sweat during the cardio segment.I like Denise Austin alot. Although her cueing is pretty bad and her dance moves are cheesy, I find her motivating. Something about thinking how good my [...] going to look in my jeans when I'm done (which she brings up during the strength training) really hits home with me.

Fun, Dancy Aerobics and Sensible Toning Section
If you enjoy dance moves like sashays, mambos and shaking your hips, you will like this easy going aerobic routine. There are also some front kicks and repeaters included. It is low impact for your knees. It gets my heart rate up but it is not meant as a workout to get you out of breath. The toning section can be modified with lighter or heavier free weights. It is safe and effective and works all muscles head to toe. It is also slightly aerobic since you are constantly moving the whole time. The cool down is short, but relaxing. There is a short warmup option before the aerobic section. The aerobics and toning sections are both 20 minutes. I enjoy doing all sections for a great workout.

Fun and Effective Workout
This DVD has a 5 min. warm-up, 2 short but effective workouts, and a 5 min. stretch. The DVD gives lets you select:warm-up + 20 min. cardio + stretchwarm-up + 20 min. strength workout + stretchwarm-up + cardio + strengh + stretchYou can also play each segment individuallyThe 20 min. cardio section is a fun medley of easy to follow low-impact moves including some kickboxing. Denise is encouraging and tells you "there's no wrong way, just keep moving". The music is upbeat. It's the same throughout both workouts, so it can get a little repetitive. The strength section is 20 min. long. The 1st 15 min. is standing moves with weights. You work your lower body and upper body simultaneously with lunges and plies combined with curls and overhead presses. These moves target your buns, thighs, arms, chest and shoulders. The last 5 min. is abs focused moves with some upper body exercises as well.I really enjoyed this DVD. Denise doesn't rush through the workout. She usually cues before each move. I found it easy to follow and fun to do, and most importantly - effective.

A Great Way To Do Your Cardio!
I love this DVD! The backdrop is a great Ocean view, the moves are a lot of fun, & Denise is a great motivator! The Cardio works out multiple areas of the body, & the Sculpting section is very impressive as well. I love that you can customize the workout; & I recommend that you do the full Warmup w/Cardio/Strength & Cool-down altogether for maximum results. Once things get a little too easy for you, just get some heavier weights or even repeat the Cardio section... I do Pilates now but this DVD will still be useful for me for a long time because I am always in need of working out different parts of the body; I still use it every day in some way. This is definitely one of my favorites!
