You do not need words when Jackie MorrisIllustrates or writes. Just what does your cat think?

Jackie Morris' books bring on the purrs
I now have several of her books that I am holding for when my great-nephew is a bit older. The stories are well geared to toddlers, but it is the art work that makes her books so fantastic. Beautiful in every way.

"When I Sleep I Dream..."
As ever, Jackie Morris has created a picture book so beautiful it's almost wasted on children. Just as her other picture books are devoted to a particular type of animal ( The Ice Bear , The Snow Leopard ) this one concentrates on cats.A tabby cat curls up for a sleep and invites the reader to take a glimpse into its subconscious, where it dreams of all the big cats that roam the wilds. Jackie Morris uses vibrant watercolours to capture the world through a cat's eyes, depicting everything from tigers to pumas, lions to jaguars, cheetahs to leopards. There is an innovative feature to the prose, and that's in describing the wild cats without naming them. This makes for a good game to play with children, who may well recognize the pictures and match them up with the descriptions given - such as "the sharp-eyed running cat, fast as the wind over the bleached plains of Africa" or "the bright flame-cat of the forest, striped like the shadows."Morris paints them all with a sense of remoteness (capturing their wild nature) but also a certain degree of personality, as well as their diverse habitats of plains, jungles or mountains. And though they're not the focus of the book, there are plenty of other animals to identify as well - birds, rabbits and other creatures that dwell on the edges of each cat's territory. It's a beautiful book for children and cat-lovers alike, with illustrations that are engaging and informative, and a final two-page spread that provides added information on each member of the feline family that appears throughout its pages. It would makes a great gift for any young animal lover, as does all of Morris's work.

Impatience satisfied
Having followed The Ginger Cats' and Jackie Morris' blogs for several years, I have seen the creation of this book, watched it go off to the publisher and appear in British book shops. I know I must own this book, for the illustrations are truly marvellous, and I want to know what cats dream; I have seen my own cats dreaming, and I suspect the dream is not as mundane as simply chasing a mouse or teasing the neighbour's dog. Sadly, this book is not to be available in Canada for months yet, so I ordered it through the UK site and it arrived today. Now I can see the cat's dreams, and they are dreams of Cat unbounded, large and small, all over the world. These are dreams worthy of Cat, and the illustrations are glorious, intense and evocative! Any astute cat person knows that cats are well aware of their own deep history, and I am delighed as his particular ginger cat becomes tiger, lion, lynx, each with it's own special knowledge.I ordered a second book to be sent to my son who is teaching in Bangkok. Last month he told me he was using Jackie Morris' Tell Me A Dragon (which he had 'borrowed' from me on a visit home) to inspire his very young students to think about and make stories around, and draw their own dragons. I very quickly saw that he could also use I Am Cat with these children, for they also come from around the world and have their own stories.I have already read and gazed a these pictures a number of times. This book will be left open on a table, different days, different pages. Right now it is closed and propped upright against a low shelf so the two kittens (who have caused a bit of damage to my knitting while I wrote) can see that They Are Cat.

Midleading
I had assumed that at £16.0 I would have received the large version not a mini version unless I missed that in the product description

I am cat, children's book of pictures and writing
'I am Cat' is a lovely book of drawings. I purchased after reading a very favourable review in the Telegraph. I bought it to send to my 3-year old grandson and I thought it was a bit unwieldy in small hands. But the pictures are lovely and the text easy to understand.

Book for Cat Lovers .. not just domestic cats.
Liked the Cat illustrations. Not the best Jackie Morris Book I’ve bought. But it’s for a gift and sure they will like.
