Ok read
It was ok. The writing itself is good, the story wasn’t as captivating as expected.

The book isn't as good as the reviews.
I was struggling to stick through right in the middle when could have been captivating but it wasn't. The last 70 pages were breathtaking, indeed. The wiring was great but it had so many unnecessary details in between that the reader isn't interested in. And I'm still wondering how does the book has great reviews by a Pulitzer winner, Wired, and People?

Unflattering Portrayal of Asian Americans
I hope desperately that the Asian Americans in Northern California and Silicon Valley are not really like the people portrayed in this book. Not one character was admirable, and the story line which involves Kate becoming friends with Camilla (the woman her husband's cheating on her with) was ridiculous. This book had so many stereotypes. It reflects lazy thinking on the part of the writer.

Not worth an ounce of time
Maybe the worst book I’ve ever read. Each characters storyline leaves just enough to offer a sliver of hope. But then once you return to their storyline again (each chapter is a different perspective of the characters) - you’re 3 steps back.Comparing it to The Neat and Crazy Rich Asians is insulting.

Thoroughly enjoyed!!
I thoroughly enjoy this book. The author’s sense of humor comes through in the characters and had me laughing through the twists and turns. I was specifically looking for a light, fun read (that wasn’t pure fluff) to get my mind off some daily stress and this book definitely did the trick! It was realistic but not too serious. And the author writes in such a clear, witty manner. I hope the author writes more books like this!! Highly recommend!

Boring!
This book was so boring with characters that you never end up caring about. Total waste of time!

Enjoyable and humorous
Living in Northern California, I may be biased, but I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down! The storyline moves quickly and there is plenty of humor as well as relevant life issues. I am looking forward to another book by this author!

Beautifully written & Funny
A fun read about a Chinese American family whose lives are filled with humor, drama, and Silicon Valley money. It's a laugh, cry, fun read.

Mixed feelings about this book
Whilst I mostly enjoyed this book, I also found it quite shocking. The open greed of most of the characters and their obsession with wealth and success was quite startling. I didn’t actually like any of them - so selfish and self-seeking, but I did enjoy the dark and witty satire. As a Brit, I was surprised at the animosity between white Americans and Asians, and the fact that many of the Asian families still identified so closely with their native country, be it China, Thailand or Korea, and put great emphasis on where people had gone to college in that country - an American influence? The book certainly gave me a lot to think about, comparing these issues with the kind we have in the UK, so yes, witty and sarcastic, unpleasant almost at times, but without doubt thought-provoking.

Why isn’t this book more famous?! It’s brilliant!
I don’t understand two things:1. Why this book hasn’t had too much publicity and 2. Why the average is only 3.5 stars.I found this book to be amazing. I live in the U.K. but grew up in a big city in North America. I grew up around affluent minorities and this captures it so well. The social engagements elder women go to, the pressure their children have and their combined obsession with real estate. This has it and you know what? The book is funny, it is entertaining. I found myself WANTING to read it all the time.I found it was an intelligent funny book. It’s worth while and I 100% recommend it.

Disappointing
Could do with much less emphasis on businesses and companies ,I started to lose interest and had to skip these parts .General stereotype of Asians with their obsessions on wealth, status. Nothing new. The only likeable character was the daughter Kate .The front of the book says ‘Globe trotting’…really..It was only Hong Kong and Bali and only for about one chapter.
