Q: Is the inside diameter of the hose 3/8 or just the fittings? I think the gpm would be higher if the id was 3/8.

Unfortunately I am not able to answer your question fully because I store mine in my shed. I would assume after your first use some of the smell would be off of it, if it had a smell to begin with. Perhaps you could try putting it in a plastic bag with a tie if it had a strong odor . Sorry I can't be more helpful with your question.
