Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the British Pop duo's 1987 debut album. All Right Now features the classic #2 smash "Heartache" alongside the Top Ten follow-up "Goodbye Stranger" and three subsequent singles "Can't Give Me Love", "Hightime" and the title track - a cover of Free's 1970 rock anthem. This Special Edition contains a host of bonus material including sought-after 12" mixes and B-sides, several on CD for the first time. Written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, "Who's Gonna Catch You?" was intended for inclusion on All Right Now but ultimately went unreleased. Recently rediscovered on the original PWL studio tapes, it is exclusively made available here in both 7" and 12" form. As backing singers and dancers for Wham!, Pepsi DeMacque & Shirlie Holliman not only featured on several of the 80s' biggest hit records but also in the accompanying videos and concerts. They began recording as a duo in their own right in 1986, following Wham!s farewell show. Cherry Pop.

Reissue great sound quality--easily could have been two discs!
While Cherry Red can go one way or the other with it's mastering, they've done an outstanding job here, with all the crystal clear late 80s sounds in place. Pepsi & Shirlie's sound is like a more R&B/pop Bananarama and also similar to Mel & Kim, with plenty of PWL/Stock Aitken Waterman hi-nrg thrown in for good measure. Which is why I'm surprised they whittled this down to one CD. While including plenty of b-sides, they've actually left off a bunch of the alternate 12" mixes from the various singles (the 12" of All Right Now and High Time are not even included). It would have been great to have the full album and b-sides on disc one, and then have a disc 2 that included all the remixes. Instead, we get one disc, still loaded with tracks:1 Heartache 3:382 Lovers' Revolution 3:363 Can't Give Me Love 3:424 Hightime (Jellybean Remix) 3:435 What's Going On Inside Your Head? 4:206 Goodbye Stranger 3:347 Surrender 4:068 Crime Of Passion 3:499 All Right Now 3:3810 Who's Gonna Catch You (When You Fall)? 3:2511 Feels Like The First Time 4:2912 Dreaming 4:5213 It's A Shame 4:2014 Heartache (Dot & Daisy's Club Mix) 7:3915 Goodbye Stranger (Extended Version) 7:2116 Can't Give Me Love (Extended Version) 6:5417 Who's Gonna Catch You (When You Fall)? (Extended Version) 5:59

GREAT POP/SEMI-ROCK FEMALE DUO/GROUP
I had never heard of these musical artists until I ran across a posting on facebook, where someone posted a video of their number one hit! I listen to it and just went ape, wild, loved it tremendously and wonder my gosh where was I when they came out and was singing??? Well, they really did not debut over here in the United States where I am located and never heard of them over there in the U.K. I immediately ordered this one video of them and I wear it out all the time playing it over and over. I wish there would other CD's of them!!! I love them!!!

Duo dynamite
To me 80s dance music recovered around the mid 80s (after the death of disco at the end of the 70s) around the time that Pepsi and Shirlie went solo after backing up George Michael and Wham. The album didn't make it big but the main single Heartache charted well and it was a relief to hear some harmonising again after the flat, rather dark vocals of the early 80s........Heartache is the pulsing standout track, its mixing done by Pete Hammond was also recently responsible for the Kylie remix of Put Your Hands Up (many years later!) Worth a mention is the emotional What's Going On Inside Your Head and the assertive High Time...Another 80s classic pop album that deserved more recognition.

Great late-80s Dance-Pop. See songs here
Track listing:1. Heartache2. Lover's revolution3. Can't give me love4. Hightime5. What's going on inside your head6. Goodbye stranger7. Surrender8. Crime Of Passion9. All Right Now10. Goodbye Stranger (Bonus Beats)11. Heartache (Dot & Daisy's Club Remix)I enjoyed this duo's debut album back in it's heyday. One catchy song that was a single is Heartache which was produced by Phil Fearon but mixed by Stock, Aitken & Waterman who were really blowing up big around that time. Track 11 is a House Mix by Phil Harding who is also from the Stock, Aitken & Waterman camp. Goodbye Stranger was also a single, the "Bonus Beats" version on track 10 is actually the 12" Version, it is an extended version of track 6. This song did come out as a house remix stateside with Justin Strauss and Murray Elias doing the honors and it was a better version. Track 3 never made it to the states but it is a Hi-NRG number which did have an extended remix. The title track All Right Now is a cover of the 1970s rock song and it is ok, but not one of my favoirtes. It did get a couple remixes.

A bit of alright
Pepsi LeMaque and Shirlie Holliman (aka Mrs Martin Kemp) were better known as George Michael's backing vocalists Pepsi and Shirlie way back in the day. This debut album from them was definitely a good one and fair play to them on attempting their version of Free's "Alright Now" which I thought was brilliant. Some really great tracks on here. Their voices definitely blend well together. Glad it was released on cd.
