Buffalo Bills8oz Premium Hickory Beef Jerky Pieces (hickory smoked jerky in random size pieces)

I've ordered this product 5 or 6 times now. As a kid my dad would irresponsibly take me to the local American Legion bar. Besides the few arcade games, the only redeeming part of the experience was the beef jerky they sold for $1/strip. It was salty, tough, dry and delicious. This is the only product I've ever had that comes close to that nostalgic flavor. The jerky is hard and takes quite a bit of chewing. Eating a few pieces is a workout for your jaw. The package comes vacuum sealed to the point it is as hard as a rock. When you first open it, all the pieces are stuck together. Your hand will get a little saucy from digging around in the bad, I'm assuming because the vacuum sealing process draws some of the remaining moisture out of the jerky. I will try breaking up the brick and leaving the bag open like others recommend. This stuff absolutely blows a product like Jack's Links out of the water. 10/10 would recommend.

The quality is amazing compared to other store jerky. It's a bit more expensive, but you're getting 16oz of fully edible Jerky....no waste from bad/fatty pieces. The quality of the jerky is the best I've ever had, and I've tried a LOT of jerky.The jerky is also low carb. Not a lot of sugars like other Jerky, which is why I originally tried it. It has a bit of a stronger soy sauce taste than other Jerky, but it still taste great.It's also in a vacuum sealed pack that isn't resealable. So you've got to open it, take a bit out and put in a zip lock bag for whatever quantity you want to eat, and put the big bag with the rest in another zip lock and keep in in the refrigerator for freshness. A bit of a hassle but for the quality, it's well worth it.It's hard to get other Jerky and deal with the bad/fatty pieces after eating this Jerky. It's really in another league.

Awful, just awful. I was hoping for a strong flavored, dry jerky like some of the higher end jerky I have bought in the past, but what I got was a pile of garbage easily outdone by both any random corner store or even the most basic choice from Wal-Mart.The texture is not so much tough or tender as it is rubbery, oddly shiny, and slimy. It's off putting on several levels, combining the unappetizing artificiality of your average cheap grocery store brand without even offering anything in return.The flavor isn't any better. I will say it tastes 'homemade', but more in the sense of being made by somebody who doesn't really know how to cook. Spice, hickory smoke, anything that should probably be inside it is just gone, instead it just tastes like raw soy sauce; like beef is being used to bring out the flavor of the cheap condiment rather than vice versa.Even the packaging manages to be just a little bit rubbish. The vacuum sealing would be good for freshness if it actually contained anything worth preserving; but is also turns the package into an awkward brick that has to be stabbed open; and the wrinkled label combined with tiny grey text on a black label in front of black "jerky" makes it impossible to read the information without first opening and inflating the bag.I'm willing to accept that I just made a huge mistake and lost some money to a worthless product; but for anybody who doesn't want to do the same, I recommend ordering anything else.

Overall, a good jerky, but the extra salt is not necessary.Consistency: a traditional jerky..This means it is not moist or soggy. It is dry (which is fine with me) and the pieces appear to be premium beef. They are pretty easy to chew, with a slightly oily coating on the pieces. I would give the consistency grade a B+, as long as you like traditional style.Flavor: heavy salt & soy flavors. The finish is a little sweet and a little hot. I can't seem to detect any "hickory" or smoked flavors. The salt and Soy overpower them entirely. The flavor gets a C-. Needs more balance.Overall: not a bad jerky. Taste is pretty good, but the excessive salt is a fault. If there was more smoke flavor and about half the salt, this would be amazing jerky. I can't believe the amount of salt in this product. I used to work in Food Science, and my feeling is that if the company had to list the amount of sodium per serving, it would be insane. ( perhaps a full days recommended allowance in half a bag) I would give the overall grade as a B-. I would purchase it again, especially for any activity where sweating would occur, and no refrigeration. Hiking and camping would be my 2 uses......

Super tasty

Like most people reviewing this jerky, I too try a lot and eat of a lot jerky (because it's tastes great and it's low carb by nature). I read the reviews and decided to try it out. Received today, opened it, tried it, loved it. Right away, you notice how dark the meat is compared to commonly found store-bought trash. That's because soy sauce is the primary flavoring agent...like real western-style jerky should be. In fact, once you open the vacuum sealed package, you realize how moist the meat is because the soy flavorings are absorbed really well into the meat.Like other comments note, this is NOT a sweet jerky. There is virtually no sugar present. It's salty/savory jerky. So if you have extreme sensitives to salty foods, you may be disappointed. First bite, you realize how high quality the meat really is. It's cut into 2-3" long, 0.5" wide strips perfect for snacking. It's by far the best packaged jerky I've found, outside of artisan mom & pop shops on the side of a deserted highway in the middle of nowhere. Highly recommended.
