Expected Merrell Quality in a great "Water" shoe
First off, for those reviewers that stated these shoes aren't waterproof, shame on you for being so stupid! Of course their not waterproof, they are called Waterpro and ARE a water shoe. These are your typical great Merrell quality. Quick drainage and quick drying. I'm always concerned with the material of the foot bed in a water shoe, but this foot bed is very comfortable without sock, which obviously you probably don't want to wear with a "Water" shoe! Great for hiking and trekking through streams. I normally wear a 10 in Merrell's, but in this particular shoe I had to size down to a 9.5, which is perfect.

Breathable, lightweight and fast drying.
These shoes are AMAZING!! These are by far the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever worn.I am extremely impressed with their quick drainage and drying. I can step in puddles and my shoes will be dry 5 minutes later.Highly recommended!!

comfortable shoes
great shoes. They run a bit wide but I am going to get some padded socks to wear with them

Excellent water shoe
Love this shoe. Got it as a comfortable and functional water shoe and it is. It’s perfect for lakes, streams and the beach - wears well without sox, nice grippy sole, quick drying. Bonus is that with Sox, this shoe also works well for lightweight hiking!!

Sturdy solid water shoe
Very solid and well made water shoe, great grip and comfortable except when wearing them without socks. They do have some spots where my feet rubbed but not bad. Sand will get in and I didn’t like the no drain at the bottom of the shoe. But I really didn’t have huge amounts of sand inside so they are tight against my feet. Size is as ordered.

These shoes are great!
I take a water aerobics class 3x a week and my left ankle needed more support. These shoes are just the right ticket! They are comfortable, supportive, roomy enough for jumping around, and I love them! Merrell comes through again!

Super comfortable!
These are the most comfortable shoes I own. I had an old pair of these for 10 years and replaced them with these. I'm very impressed with the color, comfort, support, and feel.

Waterpro not waterproof
Merrell are one of the most comfortable hard wearing shoes/boots I've ever come across... these are no exception on the comfort scale... as for hard wearing... time will tell as I've only had them a couple of days and have only worn them once for a walk and swimming the dogs in the rivers at home on Dartmoor. These shoes are waterPRO not waterPROOF... so if you're expecting no water to enter them then they are definately NOT what you want... that is not what they were designed for... but if you want a lightweight, very breathable shoe for warmer climate walking or running, that feel like you're not wearing shoes at all when you enter water and then dry quickly after... then this is them!!!

They’re shoes to wear in water, not waterproof :D
Really comfy fit! Please note these are water shoes and the product name is ‘Waterpro’ - ‘pro’, not ‘proof’! They’re intended for wet summer hikes so you can wander in rivers as well as along them :) The mesh and holes help water drain quickly. If you’re worried you can see your socks through the mesh, the problem is that you’re wearing socks :D - the footwear is doing what it should!I usually wear Keen sandals in summer, I love paddling in rivers with the dog. But after an injury that’s become a bit permanent I need an orthotic insert, so needed footwear that was like sandals but enclosed so the orthotics didn’t slip out the back. These are just what I’d hoped they’d be.I do think that the toe bumper should come further up over the toes, but for me it’s still five stars as they’re really comfy and mean I can carry on walking and wading the way I like to!Edit: I’ve worn these loads now and can confirm they’re super comfy and the grip is excellent. I thought the mesh and toe bumper may be a problem but they’ve been absolutely fine. I switched out the laces for speed laces to make them even more water friendly - see pic. Water drains quickly as you walk and they dry quickly afterwards. Definitely recommended!

Waterproof - I think not (edited review)
I love the look of the shoes, they feel great and provide good support on the sole. They have a good grip, too. I just do not think that using 'waterproof' as one of the selling points and features is accurate as I can actually see my socks through the mesh! They feel very airy due to the larger than expected holes in the mesh so calling the shoe waterproof is a misrepresentation.***After a few wears I can say that this is the worst Merrell shoe I have ever owned. My feet are freezing in them! The price is too high for pretty much a bit of mesh on a sole. The support is nowhere near as good as on their "Mother of all boots" model. You would think they would be consistent. Not really happy and had I discovered all these misrepresented features I would have returned.

The Maipo 2 is... Shoddy
I have a pair of maipos from several years ago, and I love them, but they're falling apart. Naively I thought the Maipo 2 would be similar. No. No lightly reinforced toe, the ankle is too loose, the fit is completely different. Merrell, generally I love you, but you have let me down. Massively.

Really nice shoe for summer walking
Sized up as merrells come up small, however with these ones, I could have gotten away with my normal size. These are great. Vibrant soles and airy mesh which is fab for summer.
