Does it seem like the people around you are always mumbling? Are you having difficulty understanding a conversation when there are two or more people speaking? Do you have difficulty understanding what is said even though you hear just fine? Hearing loss is often a gradual process that can impact your overall quality of life. Studies have shown that even the slightest hearing problems may reduce your earnings potential, can increase your chances of dementia, lead to social isolation and even your likelihood of falling. Why take those risks when for 90% less than a custom device you can get a LifeEar Personal Sound Amplifier that does not require appointments, prescriptions, fittings or any other inconveniences. LifeEar helps improve speech intelligibility, boosts your confidence, and reduces the stress and fatigue associated with the inability to hear clearly, all leading to an improved quality of life. LifeEar does not just "turn the volume up" like cheap amplifiers; it discreetly enhances the world around you. The 12 band digital sound processing focuses on voices while simultaneously reducing background noise; the sound level and amplification program is adjustable via a single switch. No need to fiddle with putting complicated devices together either. LifeEar comes to you already assembled. To make things even easier, LifeEar uses readily available 10/10 A zinc-air batteries. No more asking people to repeat themselves, no more turning the TV up time and time again, no more awkward misunderstandings—not only the words spoken, but also the emphasis, nuance, and volume. Order your LifeEar today. The longer you wait to address your hearing the less chance you have of preventing decline. Just think this time next week you could be hearing better.

Size Matters--I needed much smaller tips than supplied with these
They are fine hearing aids, I've figured out after 6 months or so; good fidelity, inconspicuous.N.B., Siemens 'domes' or the tips that insert in the ear, fit this. Maybe others.I was in a lot of confusion for months thinking the supplied tips were all that were available. They were all that were available from LifeEar and I struggled forcing tips too large into my ear for a long time until I got a picture of my sister's 5mm Resound tip. I looked around and found some 4mm Siemen's tips that work fine (NOT Siemens click type).I knew nothing about hearing aids and could have used more help/information with the wearing/insertion/tip thing. The company was solicitous and semi-helpful but did not respond when I told them what worked best for me was inserting the tube with no tip at all, meaning I needed something very small, which they did not sell. They work well and have enabled more of a social life.

Should have gotten this almost a year ago
I needed a little bit of amplification the last few months and decided to get an amplifier. I don't ever want to bother with a hearing aid anyway, but I'm not at a stage where something like that makes sense to start with. Since I only needed it as an assist, I ruled out getting a second one, believing one ear could handle what I needed it for.I started to go with cheaper models, but decided they're probably worth less than what you pay for them. So I started looking at more expensive ones. I didn't really like the idea of laying out that kind of money for one like this. I read the reviews - mostly one and two star so I knew what to look for as far as problems - and ordered it.I received it, put the battery in and played with settings. I found what I think was the answer to some of the complaints. First off, if the earpiece isn't in the canal, chances of feedback are pretty strong. Also two of the four settings had a ring to them, meaning it was just a little short of feedback. That particular problem can also happen if the volume it too high. I found two of the settings worked for me, so I tested mostly with those two and changed the volume around from time to time.I only needed this for part of my day (usually about 6 hours a few days a week). But I wore it for the first several days all of the time while I was awake and not showering. That way I could test battery life, comfort and usability. I wore the device until the battery started getting weak.I did as the instructions said and removed the battery when I wasn't wearing it. I have no idea how that would have affected the life of the battery other than I know it would have shortened it a lot.The first battery lasted 5 days during my test. Even at that stage I was able to increase the volume to get it back to where I needed it. So it might have lasted a little longer if I had to have it in an emergency. Most of the time I could tell it was there by volume in that ear. But it never felt uncomfortable. Sometimes I'd not even notice it, like if I was outside or in a room with no sounds being produced very close to me.Every now and then I'd get a slight bit of feedback or ringing. Usually that happened when my ear was very close to something (laying on my arm, for instance). Generally those times were always when there was less than a half inch between something and my ear. My phone never produced that, so it wasn't often that it happened.I only really have two gripes about this device, and one of those I knew about before I purchased it:1. The earpiece isn't adaptable to both ears with what's purchased. But I realize I can buy one online for th other ear and put on whichever one I want to use.2. Cleaning the tube is easy. Getting it back on sometimes takes a few tries. I always manage, but it seems like the thing that didn't work the first 5 tries finally works. Maybe I'm missing something on this one.The battery life I got indicates to me that I can get by on one battery for over 2 weeks (always taking the battery out when I'm not using it, of course). That's a real bargain as far as I'm concerned. And with the carrying case it comes with I can keep spares with me all of the time in case I run across a bad battery or something.Would I buy it again? You bet! (I hope I don't have to unless I do something dumb, like get it wet.) Using it has not saved my life or anything, but it sure stopped me from having to ask people to repeat things several times! Using just the one ear has worked great for me. I never go to work without it now.

Equal or superior to aides up to the $4500 ones I tried.
Great devices! I researched numerous online available "aides" and chose these because of their very small size, color choices(gray for me), volume adjustability(10 levels), and 4 settings. But most of all for Life Ears' earpiece. It's very similar to the Bose athletic earbuds which I use for jogging and sports. Very comfortable and functional. I can hear outside sounds along with the amplified sounds. This makes phone usage possible without removing the earpiece! I was concerned about what I considered a high price for replacement earpieces($15)but after living with them and examining them, I decided these "earbuds" when needing to be replaced will be well worth the prices. I'm highly pleased with my purchase.

Good Value
Good amplification, but with some distortion at higher volume. Also, occasional feedback at increased volume. But a good value at half the price of the Phonak brand.

LifeEar superior to expensive Sharkey
I have a Sharkey Hearing aide but I am getting tired of it malfunctioning. It also cost 6 times the LifeEar. The LifeEar actually amplifies better than the Sharkey. It eliminates tinnitus better. And I don't have to keep waiting for audiologist appt. I am quite happy with the LifeEar and will be putting my Sharkey in the drawer when it comes back from the factory in 2 weeks!
