There are several problems with this thing.There is a retractable arm to hold the top of the canvas. The lock associated with this arm is very feeble, which means that if one picks up the easel by the painting/drawing, the top arm slides up, and the easel falls off of the painting and crashes to the floor. (Guess how I found this?)The second, is that there is no kind of lock of any kind on the rear leg, which means if you pick up the easel in any way, he rear leg swing towards you, making it very awkward to reset.Next, there is very very little rigidity to the easel. If you paint hard, it's going to wiggle around.But then, I suppose we get what we pay for don't we?This one is headed to the dump, and I'll be buying something better which is more usable.Cannot recommend.

I have had this tripod for years and I needed a second one. I used it outside to hold my notes for when I do poetry. I do sometimes need to weight it down by attaching a rope to the tripod and to my backpack but it is sturdy and well made. I almost did not buy this again because when I saw the reviews, I thought it could not be the tripod that I own because the one I own would have better reviews, But I ordered it and it is the same tripod and I am very happy it is,

After buying cheaper easel's for years, only to see them bend, break or otherwise fall apart, I found these. We purchased two of them as we use them frequently for events, and they continue to work like champs. Someone lost the screw-in foot on one of the legs earlier this year. If it was a cheap-o easel, it would have gone into the trash. But for this one, I contacted Alvin & Company to see if I could buy a new leg (it screws into the connector). They were very helpful and sent a new leg at no charge. Excellent customer service and a great, hard-working easel. I highly recommend this product and Alvin & Company if you are looking for an easel to display boards or hold large writing tablets.

The Rear leg of this easel does not lock. Therefore the unit folds without warning and collapses. The bar that hold the canvas is unstable and falls. Your painting is in jeopardy with this unit. I am saddened that there is nothing better available . I used to have a fantastic one for 15 years but I can no longer find it.

I purchased this for my wife to tote around easily. It is nice, light and easy to set up. However, it's light weight also doesn't give it sturdy stability. I have no fear of it collapsing, but she has to be gentle when drawing and painting with it.

Love this easel! Use it for my full time caricature job. It's neat looking, light weight and sturdy, no wobble, easy to set up and break down.Update 8/18/16 This easel is so great. I tried doing my home orders outside of work on another easel and it didn't have the right tilt and stability as this easel does. Just ordered a second one for home studio after 1 1/2 years using the first one which is stationed at work, which is still going strong.

Good product- its light weight, and collapses to something much smaller for storage. It is able to hold a good sized surface for painting. The legs can be adjusted to different lengths for uneven outdoor surfaces. It reached me quickly. I would buy it again- Oh right, I did buy it again- as a present for my sister :). Caution: It is not meant for heavy duty use.

Superb easel for drawing. Really easy to setup, folds nicely, and can withstand some pressure while sketching. even comes with a handy carry bag! highly recommend. much better than a flimsy wooden one.
