Great introductory set
A few years ago I had to stop painting in oils, so I switched to acrylics, which just don’t satisfy in the same way. I decided to try out water based oils as an alternative. Wow. Why did I wait so long! While not exactly like oil, the paint consistency leaving the brush is soooo superior to acrylics - I have much more control with these paints. They also dry slower than acrylics, so it is much better for blending colors on the canvas. The paint body is a bit thicker than oils, so I recommend buying one of the mediums specifically made for this kind of paint. This set has an incredible range of colors and mixes well with acrylics. The number of colors - combined with the price - make this set a great find for someone who is not already committed to the medium but wants to try it out with more than just the 12 colors other (more expensive) stater sets have.I deducted one star for two reasons. The first is that a cap on one of the tubes cracked slightly, and the paint in that tube dried out and is unusable. Lucky for me it’s burnt sienna, which I almost never use. I hope this is the only tube like this. The second is picky. The names of the colors are in one or two point type, which my old eyes can’t read. The color sample at the top of the tube isn’t distinct enough for me to know what color I’m getting. Once the paint is used a bit, you can tell what the color is by just removing the cap.One issue - the paint washes out easily from natural bristle brushes, but it stains synthetic bristles.

They made me so sad
I really, really wanted to love them. Unfortunately some of the colors were so dry they had literal chunks of dried and unusable paint and were very oily. They did blend well with water, and if you got them to the right viscosity the colors blend well on the canvas as long as you don't overwork it. They will be nice to do gradient backgrounds that are pretty seamless, and maybe for blending shadow and highlights, but I don't think you can "Bob Ross" with them.

Good set for beginners
Four stars because white and yellow could stand to be more pigmented, and the purple and orange should be switched out for a brown and another shade of green or yellow ochre. Good set to try out water-mixable oils if you are a beginner. I've used these diluted with both water and gamsol, and actually prefer water. In all, a decent little starter set.

Don’t love them
I’m no monet, but the colors are not great and doesn’t mix all the great.

Lovely colors with slow drying time.
Like that this paint handles just like oil without the need for rough solvents for cleanup. Slow drying like oils also so if you are used to acrylics, that takes some getting used to. Have enjoyed this product and recommend.

Perfect for Beginners
As an experienced artist who wanted to try oils, I found this product to be very user friendly when it comes to clean up. (I tend to be messy). Perfect for the beginner needing to learn color as it comes in only primary and secondary colors, along with black and white. I may transition to regular oils once I get a better handle on technique.

Oily
I was intrigued by the concept of water-based oil and wanted to buy a small set to try it. Every tube I have tried squirts a big puddle of oil before the actual paint comes out. You have a choice of trying to avoid putting your brush near the oil, or mixing it in, but either way I get an oil “halo “around whatever I am painting. I have only used it on black canvas so far, and every flower I have painted has an oil slick around it. I don’t know if it will disappear as it dries. Other than that I like it very much.

Great Value, Easy Cleanup
Traditional oils are just inconvenient for me to travel and en plein air with due to the nature of cleaning them. These water soluble paints are fantastic for me to carry with me and they clean up with water. Make sure whatever brushes you use with these are specifically for this because the soap and water makes the brushes “water soluble oil brushes” only. That’s my only advice. However, for a nice wash, these water down well, and for a creamier consistency, I used food grade vegetable glycerin as a non-toxic option. Def would buy these again!

oil paints you mix with water
The last time I had dealings with Oil paints, I was about 12 years old and got an oil painting set for xmas... and I did a painting of a sailing ship, which I told my teacher at school about, so he asked me to bring it in so he could see it... problem was drying time. That painting is probably still at the back of my old house and still not dried. it took months before it even becace tacky. So when I saw oil paints you mix with water, I had to try them.. its a bit like painting with acrylics but a bit longer drying time yet all the advantages lof painting with oils, yet you wash your brushes out with water when you finish and there is no smell - its a no brainer to me, I'm gonna be painting with oils..

Great
Really loved working with this. Using oil paints for the first time. Since this is water mixable so it is easier to work with. The consistency of the paint is good. Takes approx 4 days to dry partially and a week to dry completely

Three of the paints were dry and I could not use them so it was a waste.
3 of the paints I was interested in using the most were dry and could not be used. I was impressed with the colors and textures I could use.
