No Greater Joy: Volume Two

These books have been a huge blessing to us and our family. The to train up a child book explains the ideas and how to train children and these volumes give practical examples which are so valuable. The books are incredibly helpful and helped my husband and I get a grasp on how we wanted to raise our family. We now have 5 children and they are so kind and a huge blessing to not just us but everyone they meet. We are stopped practically every time we go out in public because of the kids. People are amazed that on today's age we have not just 1 but 5 kids who are enjoyable and genuinely happy.

All their books are way to punitive and manipulative for my taste. I definitely believe that coming from a position of grace and mercy is what we all need. Even when drawing very strong boundaries I desire to show and share in His amazing love for us with all people, but especially with children.

Best set of books written on raising children ever! I started with his first book How to train yup a child, when my twins were 10 months old. I'll tell you what... I got a lot of flack from others, mostly my parents and in-laws but with in a couple weeks the judgements turned into praise! What a blessing these books have been! My twins are now 2 1/2 and obey better than most children twice their age! Everywhere we take them people comment, " wow, they so content and happy" In my experience the hardest things to do for our children are the best things in the long run! This book shows us how to put aside our selfish desires and do what is right by our family.I have to admit that there have been times when I have strayed from Michael Pearls techniques and let me tell you it has been no fun dealing with the aftermath! The second I switch back to the No Greater Joys techniques I not only have obedient children but I have happy, less demanding and more loving children! My whole family benefits!

I've read the peals to train up and child book and it was really helpful. these books are a little different in that they are question and answer books. A reader would write in with different questions concerning their children and the pearls would write back with their answers. they were then printed in a three part books. with a mom of three I have a LOT of questions. these were really helpful in realizing that its not just about disciple but loving and nurturing your kids while "training them"

This is so practical and straightforward. Volumes 1 and 3 are my favorite but the stories helped me not feel guilty and find a good balance in dealing with my children. I never had brothers and his books really have been helpful in knowing how to deal with boys. His sense of humor was helpful as I can be very fearful of doing the wrong thing which the children are quick to perceive and take advantage of. My kids are more loving and life is much less stressful. I was dealing with total exhaustion and and seeing where I need to relax and where to toughen up a notch or two. These books have been so helpful. Anyone who says he is harsh has not really understood him. He explains things so clearly on the website in the biblical chastisement articles 1 and 2 for anyone who has misunderstood. If you want to follow a Biblical mindset, these are great books as well as the others he has written!

I have devoured all the No Greater Joy books and wish there were more. They just are so full of wisdom that really gives you great support and giudance on how to parent. I am so grateful for them!!
