Took care of my cat's mats
Sophie is a long-hair female cat who is a bit chubby and her fur is on the course side and tends to lump up and mat - especially in areas that she can't get to. Her sister Gracie is also long-hair but her fur is more shiny and lumps are rare. We tried scissors but that's not safe. My Wahl clippers I use on my head are electric, loud and didn't seem to do the job. We didn't want to take her to a groomer or vet because I'm a do-it-yourselfer and wanted to be able to do this when it needed to be done. These are not as loud as my clippers and they are wireless. They cut better and they get skin-close without injury. Doesn't mean the cat likes them. Sophie didn't take to these clippers at first. I'm sure they felt weird and she doesn't like anyone messing with her like this. I was patient and went to her when she was napping doing little at a time until she had enough then I would quit. It was a gradual process and I let her control how long the "grooming session" would last. It has now gotten to where she will lick the hand I use to lightly hold her down. She is grooming me while I groom her. When she's had enough, she struggles , meows and I stop. I now can get her sensitive areas - under her tail and around her peepee without an ordeal. She trusts me. There are guards that come with this clipper but I use them without the guards and just hover at the height I want to go. I don't know how these would hold up in a professional grooming business but for home use, they are great. Cuts easy, quick and safely. Being wireless, they are always ready when the opportunity arises. Saved me money. And yes... we are now being more diligent with brushing her.

A quiet and efficient workhorse.
Amazing clippers. Honestly, I wanted a 3 in 1 clipper that would clip the legs and face of my horse, basic clips on my Australian Shepherd and a full body clip on my Nigerian Dwarf Goat. After reading numerous clipper reviews, this seemed like the affordable all-purpose solution to my problems. I'm on a tight budget, and really needed to shave my goat before she kids. Almost as soon as the box arrived I had it lubed up and ready to go. It was smaller than I expected, but that made it easier to get into the hard-to-reach areas of a mini dairy goat udder. While I didn't do all three animals in a day, I could have. The clippers never ran hot, didn't run out of battery life and cut right through my Nigerian Goat's thick winter coat. It was her first clip, and I was trying to be extra cautious to keep from dropping the clippers, knowing that it would be certain death for the clippers if I did. To my horror, she kicked out (numerous times) and got the clipper head twice. It separated and the razor blade disconnected and fell without issue, leaving the mechanical body of the clipper in my hand, unharmed. I think if it wasn't so easy to pop the blade and clipper head on and off, that would have been the end of them, so bonus points for an easy to clean, easy to take apart clipper - because it happened more than once. I saw on a YouTube video that a groomer had taped the two together, so perhaps this feature causes problems for others and comes off too easily? My horse and dog were also un-fazed by the quiet efficiency of the clipper. I look forward to many years with the Wahl ARCO cordless clipper.

Powerful, Quiet, Long Battery Life, Smooth Running
Powerful, quiet, long battery life, smooth running, this clipper is amazing for it's size. I have tried a few different clippers over 60 years and 4 dogs. I have an aging 12 lbs Poodle Schnauzer that can no longer go to the groomer. I dreaded clipping this dog myself. Fussy little thing. This clipper being cordless, was a phenomenal advancement to say the least. There was never a cord to tend to. The small size and no cord made this one easy to maneuver device. It is so smooth it did not cause any numbness in my hand. You can hardly feel it running. I am not a pro groomer and I do not have time to comb and wash and do all the recommended things prior to clipping. I grabbed the dog and with ease, gently ran the clipper through the dogs fur snarls and all, with a #2 blade, several times. It powered right through, clipping through the snarls. This made it much easier as the next pass was smooth and easily removed the rest of the snarled fur. After about 1 hour, I noticed it was starting to slow down. I swapped in the supplied extra battery and after another 45 minutes, finished feet and all. I like this clipper so much I might buy 2 two!

From great starter clipper set to dead batteries 1.5 years later
Updated review after owning for 1.5 years: Batteries no longer hold a charge. I place them on the charger a day prior to clipping, keeping one of them on the charger right up until I am ready to groom. I get about 10 minutes of life from the battery that was just plugged in and when that dies, I try the other battery and it barely lasts a minute. Looks like new batteries are about $50. Wouldn't expect a battery to go dead this quickly. I store them inside (temp controlled) and have used the clippers about once a month to every month and a half for the last year and a half. I can no longer recommend this product based on the clipper battery life. I'd recommend these clippers for beginners as they are easy to use, decent price point and clip nicely. I purchased this clipper set to groom my standard poodle puppy. Prior to purchasing these clippers, I had never groomed a dog before so was looking for something that was easy to use and not going to break the bank in case I was an awful groomer and decided to send him to a professional. These clippers are super easy to use and come with all of the tools that you'll need. I've used them a handful of times and like keeping my dog's hair longer so will clip him about every 3 weeks. The combs that come with the clippers are plastic and they work, but I'd recommend getting metal combs if you plan on grooming regularly. Wahl sells metal compatible combs. Additionally the charge on the battery is very good. It comes with two batteries so you can replace it during a grooming session if needed. They take some time to charge fully but it's not a problem since you have two. Finally, the clipper sound is not too loud and it doesn't bother my dog. I got him used to the clipper sound first before actually grooming him (turn it on and feed him a bunch of treats) and then also touching him with it when it was off. Keeping a puppy still for any type of activity is tough of course and I didn't want to buy a table and restrict him so I purchased a suction cup mat, fill it with peanut butter and freeze it, stick it to a surface (or have somebody else help distract) and groom him while he stands on the floor.

I have loved these but the blade pops off. Use tape too hold it on.
Update:. After 9 months the blade started popping off and a plastic piece that holds the blade on broke off. Now the blade won't stay on. I have been able to find a replacement blade platform part though. I think I'll be taping the blade on so it doesn't unexpectedly pop off again and go bouncing across the counter. Other than that I love these clippers. The battery lasts a couple of groomings of my two 30# fluffballs dogs and charges quickly. I love that there are 2 batteries so if it does go dead while grooming I can just pop another one in. They are also very easy to clean because the blade comes off. I just wish there was a switch to release the blade or something. Original post: These are great! They have metal blades unlike other brands. Paired with the metal guards these cut through my pups fluffy fine fur like butter. Other clippers just got clogged after 1 inch. These do her entire back without stopping! Haven't taken her to the groomers in 6 months. These have paid for them selves over and over again!

Awesome Clipper!!
After adopting our first doodle, I was excited to welcome a dog into the family. However, no one ever tells you about how matted they get from a young age. After trying all the detangling shampoos and magical brushes, I decided just to have my doodle professionally groomed.Despite this, after paying a hefty sum regularly to have my doodle groomed, I was determined to do it myself. While I’m not a professionally trained groomer, I would call myself proficient with dog clippers after watching countless Youtube videos. Over the years, I’ve tried many other dog clippers that were on the less expensive side. However, they were very loud and overheated too often. When I found these dog clippers on Amazon I decided to give them a shot because they were highly rated. The soft case that comes with the kit isn’t too bulky and fits all of the parts perfectly. For the most part I’ve been nothing but pleased. The clippers themselves are lightweight and require some pressure to activate the on-switch (other brands have a power button right where you hand rests and can be annoying). I thought professional grade clippers would be even louder, but to my surprise these were on the quiet side. I also appreciate the blade adjustment along the underside of the clippers. It enabled me to get a clean, even, and precise cut that I’ve never experienced before. Having doodles means dealing with mats, but I was shocked to see how well these clippers cut through dreads. I recently adopted another doodle who is very skittish and I was eager to test out the clippers on him. While his fur is less curly because he is a sheepadoodle, the clippers still tackled those dreads very well. However, like most clippers, there are some flaws. I was disappointed to discover that these clippers overheat. I always check the temperature of the blades throughout the shaving process, so that my pup doesn’t get razor burn. The Wahl clippers began to warm up after thirty minutes of shaving. Not to mention, I did notice that in the especially dreaded areas they began to heat up faster. Therefore, I would recommend checking the clippers temperature frequently no matter your dog's hair type. Furthermore, while the Wahl clippers were cooling down I found lots of hair stuck in the base of the clippers. I had to really tug at it to finally get the fur off. I appreciate how the Wahl clippers come with two rechargeable batteries, however the charging base always glows red, no matter how long they have been charging. Despite this when I tested the batteries to see if they held the charge, they worked fine. Maybe it's just a design flaw? Overall, these Wahl clippers have proved to be a great investment into my dog's hair care. They cut through hair like butter and hold a nice charge. They aren’t too noisy which can often scare dogs and come with two rechargeable batteries which is a must when tackling multiple shaves in a day. Not everyone has the kind of lifestyle that can afford spending the time and money to shave your pet. But if you can, these clippers are the ones to invest in. While they have some minor flaws, their pros make them worth it.

Great Dog Trimmer!
One of the best purchases I've made in a long time! There are so many of these gadgets out there to choose from, try this one! It's got a strong motor, it's quiet, it's not too big, so you can sneak behind the ears, and it's super sharp and doesn't bog down when there's a big ball of clotted, mangled, matted fur hidden behind the ears! You can nudge your way though a mat easily. This is a tool like no other. The unit can be safely used for short clipping with no guard, as it has a permanent guard built-in with a little slider to adjust it. The convenience of that single, thoughtful feature makes this a great clipper. For my dog's back, I run a standard Wahl (human-variety) clipper which works great. But getting into the details, this smaller clipper does marvelously around the eyes, between toe pads, anywhere at all. It's accurate, sharp, easy to use. I'd recommend pairing this with any standard clipper.

Mixed Feelings - Great Clippers, Fragile Blade Platform for Personal Use
I purchased the Wahl Professional Animal Arco Pet, Dog, Cat, and Horse Cordless Clipper Kit a while ago to groom myself at home. While there are aspects of this kit that I truly appreciate, I cannot help but express my frustration with the blade platform's durability. First, let's talk about the positives. This clipper kit is incredibly easy to use, with its lightweight and ergonomic design making it comfortable to hold even for extended grooming sessions. The cordless feature is a game changer, allowing me to move around with ease and no need to worry about tangled cords. The battery life is impressive, giving me plenty of time to finish grooming without constantly needing to recharge. Additionally, the adjustable 5-in-1 blade system provides a convenient way to switch between different cutting lengths for my various hair cutting needs. However, the blade platform has proven to be a major drawback. In the time I have owned this kit, the blade platform has broken twice. This is not only frustrating but also costly, as I had to purchase replacement parts. While I understand that no product is perfect, I expect a professional grooming kit to be durable enough to withstand regular use. Overall, the Wahl Professional Animal Arco Pet, Dog, Cat, and Horse Cordless Clipper Kit has great features and makes grooming myself much more manageable. However, the fragile blade platform leaves much to be desired. If you're willing to deal with the possibility of needing to purchase replacement parts, then this kit could still be a good option for you. I just hope that Wahl addresses this issue in future models to create a more reliable and durable product.
