Nice change from wooden grips
Perfect fit. Do not overtighten the panel screw. I did put a couple of heavy duty rubber bands on, as many others have, to get an ideal fit, although that probably wasn't necessary. With some lighter 180 grain handloads the model 29 is much more pleasant to shoot now.

Best for larger revolvers or too thick stock grips
These thin out what would be a thick grip. Nice to hold onto, and plenty of material rubber and plastic to absorb recoil. Use some rubber bands up and down the grip for a few days to help it mold itself quicker. Don’t overscrew the grip screw because it creates a bigger gap.

Perfect fit.
Got these for a square butt 44 magnum; excellent fit for large hands. Keep an eye on the screw when tightening it to make sure you don't run out the other side if the grip - there is no stop. Also, wouldn't hurt to put a small drop of blue loctite on the threads before inserting the screw. I doubt the screw would back out, but if you're buying these for a magnum revolver, it couldn't hurt.

Grip mounting screw too long
Swapped out Houge 29000 grips out with these Pachmayr Grippers on my S&W Model 29-10. I like the feel of the Pachmayr's marginally better than the Hogues BUT the provided mounting screw for the Pachmayr grips is too long by about 1/8" (approx 3mm). Have tried installing with the included nut facing in both directions, since it has a smaller radius side, but either way the screw is too long. This will tear up my hand when shooting this revolver. Have contacted Customer Service at Lyman to see if they have a replacement screw of the proper length. If not, it's back to the Hogue grips, and Lyman loses another customer. March 22, 2021 Update: Contact Lyman via their Customer Service website message system. Lyman C.S. responded within 24 hours, and sent two replacement screws via Fed Ex... one screw was 'standard' length for this grip, and one that was about 2mm shorter than standard. The shorter screw is acceptable in length (could even be another mm or two shorter yet); the 'standard' length screw is just too long for this grip on a S&W Model 29-10 square butt. Rating goes up to 4-Stars given rapid response by Lyman Customer Service , but falls short of 5-Stars as even the shorter screw is a wee bit too long.

Excellent grip
Excellent grip. Comfortable to hold.

Perfect for S&W 29-10
Better than the original wood grips & Hogue grip because it covers the back strap. It’s not meant to wrench down the cross screw too tightly. Use blue thread locker and tighten until the end of the screw is flush on the other side.

Quality control has declined over the years
I have used this brand for over 20 years and always thought it was the best. My newest purchase was a major let down. The grips are well made and the finish work is still good. The major problem is the mounting screw. On both grips I have bought, to get the grips tight enough to stay on you have to tighten the screw until it comes out the other side a good 1/8 of an inch, right into your hand. This is not what you want to feel with a .44 Magnum. The old style had a fixed metal nut on the other side. This one has a plastic nut that kept falling out. The only way to use them is to CAREFULLY cut or file the small delicate screw until it does not stick out the other side. As this grip was made to fit only 1 model, I am pissed that I have to do gunsmithing to make it fit. Would not buy again.

functional, not sexy
A perfectly acceptable solution for someone who finds the original bell-grip unwieldy, for the longer 8-10" barreled S&W29. Nothing whatsoever is fine or elegant about these grips, but while they are a little narrow, they fully solve the problem of gripping enough to support the long barrel's weight. Don't count on soft shooting, but a few cylinders' full wasn't enough to cause as much wrist strain as I felt from trying to use the original grips. ...not sure I'd be willing to take these to a public range, though, just in case there's anyone there I know...
