A vista of Latin America in 1960's
When was the last time you read a text book on your own without being required to by your teacher? I originally bought this book because it gave a latin perspective to the world of 1960. Che's book was written as a textbook for the instruction of guerilla warfare covering the weapons, tactics, psychology, economy and even spiritual aspect of this endeavor. Written at what seems to be a junior high level, it seemed to be directed at the masses with hand drawn illustrations to complement the text. I admit, I enjoyed receiving glaring looks by some people when they see the book cover and I had the opportunity to explain myself as to why I would read such a thing - honestly the book is fasinating and historical. My harshest critics unfortunately have normally been other latinos. It should be noted that a great fan of this short book was JFK- who upon reading it immeadiately ordered the information for the Green Berets. In this book, I imagine that JFK saw something that compelled him to modify the US armed forces and he was right.

Good Book
excellent book. I finished Che's Book about his memories of the Cuban Revolutionary War right before I started this book and I totally recommend that book that he wrote.I also recommend reading Enduring Cuba by Zoe Bran. First Read Che's book on his time in Cuba, then check out what Zoe has to say about modern day Cuba. The best thingabout her book are the times she talks about history of the poets of Cuba, staying in Che's hotel room and remembering him and she gives and excellent little didactic on Batista'sCuba before Che and Fidel showed up.Guerilla Warfare is an easy, fun read with a simplistic approach to psychological warfare so well put that the whole book can be tackled and taken down in one day.thanks, Che,Jonny RoseChe Guevara Reminiscences of the Cuban Revolutionary War: Authorized Edition (Che Guevara Publishing Project) Zoe bran Enduring Cuba (Travel Literature)

An Information and Multidimensional Study
I enjoyed 'Guerilla Warfare.'The book is, first, well-written and easy to read; for me, it came off as neither dated nor as a translation. Second, the book is rich in substance, and on several levels. Besides serving as a well-rounded primer on the nuts-and-bolts practicalities of actual guerilla warfare, the text provides much psychological- and human insight, owing to its candid portrayal of the warrior mentality itself. Through the late Guevara's manifesto, we are, for better or worse, shown the world through the prism of his idealism and its attendant psychology, including the political machinations which propelled the Cuban revolution. Also, these decades after the fact, we are allowed the luxury of retrospect when scrutinizing the author's intentions and assertions, as to be able to contrast them with the actual results of the revolution he spearheaded (and, because the two are often at odds, we are forced to ask "Why?"). All in all, there is much to be learned from Mr. Guevara's little book, and even more to learn from the questions and concerns it raises. My thanks goes out to this book's author (posthumously), subjects, and publisher. I am grateful for, and have benefited from, your work and service.

Excellent read. Stripped of its ideology it would be a short read. But Ernesto understood it is not enough to be against something. You have to stand for something. Technology has rendered a lot of the advice on tactics obsolete but the architecture remains intact. If you want a quick read and don't mind a heavy dose of Marxist ideology along with practical tips on how to conduct an insurgent campaign, this is your book.

Informative and intersting
Great to gain a different perspective on how he freed his country from oppression via the use of tactics and community.

Great book. It stands with the other classic of military strategy. For real. If you wanted to do Guerrilla warfare, Che instructs you not only on fighting and types of sabotage, but managing and keeping your guerrilla force healthy and happy and gaining support from the population. I was surprised and will now read his other things.

Interesting for Che fans.
For students of Guerilla warfare this will seem very dated and not that informative but still worth a read as it does tell us much about the author.Clearly Guevara was the genuine article; a true believer and despite his critics a decent man.Unlike Castro and his compadres, Guevara refused to live in a palace or stately mansion, preferring to live among the people he had fought for.A bit of an embarassament no doubt, which probably led to his going to Bolivia where he was actually murdered by the CIA after being captured byAmerican Rangers. Allegedly betrayed by a Bolivian peasant he went on to become a symbol of defiance that still appeals to young men and women in our 'Decadent' , capitalist, western paradise. Good lesson though, trying to liberate people who don't care about the corruption and injustice in their own country will only get you killed.

Zeitgeschichtliches Dokument
