Perfect for beginners and experts!
I purchased this kit to make my great-great-grandmother's homemade country wine, for which she just used a ceramic crock and 5-gallon (food-grade) buckets to make (and in today's world, one ceramic crock will cost you the same price as this complete kit!). It's absolutely perfect for making with wine-kits (complete with juice, additives, and instructions for the process). I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The kit has absolutely everything you need... a 6.5 Gallon Primary Fermentor, a 6.5 gallon Glass Carboy Secondary Fermentor, Instructional DVD, Cleaning Cloth, Degasser, 2 Bungs (drilled rubber stoppers), 2 Air Locks, Auto Siphon Racking Cane, Tubing & Clamp, Bottle Filler & Tubing, 24" Plastic Spoon, Carboy Brush & Handle, Bottle Brush, Impact Corker & 30 #8 Corks, Lab Thermometer, Hydrometer, Test Jar & 3-Piece Thief, Sodium Metabisulfite (for sterilizing), OneStep (cleanser), and 2 Fermometers. The only items it doesn't include are the wine bottles, fruits and/or juices, sugar and yeast for fermentation, but that is all you will need to supply yourself, outside of this kit, to make excellent homemade wine! I am one happy camper and will recommend this product to anyone. I'm super excited to taste my first batch of Grandma's Country Wine made in this kit, which will be ready in 27 more days! Woohoo!I've seen other complain that the corker isn't good enough, so I may add an update review, when my batch is completed and I have used the corker.

Excited to make my own wine!
The media could not be loaded. So I received my kit in the mail a couple days ago and couldn't believe all that it came with. It literally had everything I needed except for the fruit and recipes. Luckily, I had a friend who had a recipe book that I was able to borrow...whew...crisis averted!I just recently became more interested in wine so I decided this would be a cool way to get started. My friends and I got together over the weekend and made a project out of it : ]Some pros about the product that stood out :-The instructional dvd explained the process in detail and made it idiot proof haha-The materials provided are definitely of quality and easy to use.-Simple enough for a beginner like me or for an expert to try something new!-The fact that it only takes 28 days and i'll have my own wine to enjoy!I'm definitely impressed with all theI cant wait to see how my first batch of wine comes out!

Good value
This set is a good value for the money. Just invest in a good reference book to go along with this set. But excluding the lack of a comprehensive reference book it’s a very good starter kit for a novice winemaker.

Their customer service is like no other in this day and age!!
About 2 days after I ordered my Master Vintner Wine Making Equipment starter, I received an email from Northern Brewers telling me if I had any questions at all, they are available 24/7 to help. Wow! Nobody does customer service like that anymore!! The kit came even earlier than it was scheduled. Everything was as it was supposed to be. I watched the DVD and started my first batch of wine EVER! If it doesn't work it, it would be to no fault of Northern Brewers. The DVD was very helpful since I didn't know anything about wine except what I like to drink! Thank you Northern Brewers!! I'm looking forward to my first batch in 28 days!!!

Amazing customer service
We have just begun the wine making endeavor so not all of the products have been used yet however what we have utilized has been great! And ever so importantly the customer service has been outstanding! The carboy arrived shattered in pieces and when I notified the seller, they sent a new one out immediately and it arrived intact! This type of service is so scarce these days; they now have a loyal customer!

Not bad but not great
This kit isn't too bad for the price if you factor in the time saved having to do research and getting your own stuff. For the most part, everything in the kit is fairly nice with a couple of exceptions. The glass carboy is very nice and it includes an attachable handle which makes moving/tipping it much easier. The airlocks and bungs all fit well with each other and with the holes in the carboy/fermenter without any problems. The auto siphon is good quality and works without issue. The main and largest problem is that the plastic fermenter that is included in this kit is the "big mouth bubbler" which by itself is actually pretty nice. The problem is that it comes with their new "universal" lid which instead of screwing onto the fermenter and making a tight seal, it's got soft silicone rings that press fit into the mouth of the fermenter. The problem with this is that even the slightest amount of pressure build up from CO2 causes the lid to pop out of the mouth and break the seal, letting in who knows what into your wine/beer/cider/mead. I can't seem to keep it properly sealed for more than 2 hours without taping or weighing down the lid. For some reason, they've known about this problem for years (check reviews for the lid on northern brewer) and still choose to not make a proper screw down lid or address the problem at all. As much as I love the vessel itself, the lid makes this basically the worst fermentation vessel you can use. You'd be better off with a bucket from home depot. The rest of the included items range from "okay" to "pretty good" rather than "near useless".The corker is very basic and requires a good bit of hand/arm strength and leverage, so if you're not someone like that you'll have to get someone to help you or get a lever corker instead. The wine thief is also fairly basic. It works, but since it's a three piece plastic unit you'll get some drips/loss of holding power through the seams. This isn't a huge problem as long as you're quick with it, but there are nicer ones out there for sure.Lastly the tubing that comes with the kit is fairly short. When racking wine you want to make sure that the bottom of the tubing reaches the bottom of the new vessel you're transferring to in order to minimize splashing and oxygen exposure. It's possible to do this with the included tubing but your new vessel has to be fairly close to the vessel you're transferring from. I ended up buying a 6 foot length of tubing from my local home brew store so I can actually rack from my kitchen counter to a vessel on the floor, and this is the minimum length I would suggest but 7 feet might of been better. All in all I don't regret buying this kit, but if someone asked me going forward I'd probably tell them to avoid it purely because of the lid issue and either get another kit or just piece one together themselves.
