Bought a pair of these plus 4 Holmes Hally springs over the summer for our newly purchased Cape Cod with 2 single garage doors. The originals were still in place and I was concerned of them failing. Since I had never done something like this before I searched the internet for installs. After I felt confident enough, I replaced the 1st set. That took me just over 9 hours. Had to remove the old springs and do a bit of cutting of some old hardware. When I installed them, the arc of the door opening changed ( may have messed up a bit in placement?) and I had to adjust the garage rails and the electric door driveThe 2nd door took about 4 hours since I knew what to expect.They have been in use for 6 months now and I am very happy with their performance. Very recommended.UPDATE: 12/09/17. This spring I replaced the doors themselves. They came out to be about 190# each so I added a 2nd pair of springs per door. Works perfect. Also dummy me, I figured out you do not need to have a track or rails at all with this unit. The confusion on my part is the original hinge from the '40's used a straight rail. These do not work like that. Lesson learned.

Perfect replacement for an old Holms Lifting door hinge.Wedge the door bottom up with wood wedge shims, Brace the top and low sides of the door with wood cleats using duplex nails. Remove the old lifting hinge, replace with the new following the instructions for placement as placement determines the final position of the door in the open lifted position. Tension the spring (s) per instructions. Remove the cleats and bottom wedges and your done. total time for a single handed do it yourself is about 3 hours.

The hardware itself is very heavy duty and works well. The instructions are pretty weak. Watch the videos on line and they really help a lot. I was doing a completely new install and these did not come with the clips to attach the springs to the hardware. I could not find them on the Wessol site so I called the Customer Service number and got a very sweet lady that was located in another state from where Customer service was. She said she would pass on my information and I would get a call back. I tracked down another number after a day of no calls and got the same gal. She assured me I was in the Queue. Meanwhile I saw the clips on another site and ordered them. Never heard from Customer Service but I have seen them reply to posts on line. I used a single spring setup and the only clips listed were for dual springs.

I thought these garage door hinges weren't available anymore. But thanks to Amazon I was able to get them and repair my garage door.

Quality product, bought a new set to replace a 50 year old set, the new set is just as well made as the first set, even better designed. I have a 200 lb wooden double door, and with this holmes hardware set the door was easily balanced to where my petite wife can open and close it with one hand. con: packaging... arrived with two large fist size holes in the box, one on each end, and the bag with all the fasteners and spring anchors in it was torn open. surprisingly, the only thing missing was a nut from one of the kicker adjustment bolts.

The item may be wonderful, but I paid for a brand new one and I got an used one, missing 3 anchor bolts and all the screws but one.

I plan to install this kit when my right hinge breaks(is bent and on it's last legs). I was a little unhappy with the condition of the box this came in. It was torn in a few places. Some parts are missing but not really necessary. Like the pull handle. I actually like this kit it looks strong and has parts that are included that I may not need.
