What a important kit that saves money and helps in so many ways.
More than 5 stars for this kit. Less than $30 for the kit that saves me at least $40. For each oil change I do from now on. I don't know who at John Deere came up with the inverted oil filter. This was a dumb idea and very costly for the consumer. Thanks to a YouTube video that showed me how easy it was to install this kit. And letting me know not to waste my money for all my future oil changes. This was my first oil change on my new S120 lawn mower.

A Must do to make your engine last longer!
This is a must do if you have the easy change oil system! With this kit, you will be able to change all of the oil in the engine as opposed to always running dirty contaminated oil because you are only changing a small amount of the used oil. This is a fairly simple kit to install. I do recommend watching a few YouTube videos of people doing it to pick up some helpful tips.

This kit will help ensure reliability and longevity of your engine.
Three years ago, I purchased a John Deere (JD) E120. At the time, the Easy Change ™ 30-Second oil filter was $30. Now it is $50, a lot of money for a filter that requires replacement each season (according to the owner’s manual) and only replaces about 1/2 quart of oil. I had also been having concerns about engine longevity and reliability by replacing such a small amount of oil. This season, I decided to revert to the conventional oil change system and purchased theJohn Deere OEM Easy Change Conversion Kit to do so.As you can see, it comes with everything you need, Oil Filter, Drain Tube and Adapter Fitting The drain tube has a twist lock cap with o-ring seal to which makes draining oil easier.Additionally, you will also need:8mm socket with 3" extension or nut driver to remove the side plastic covers1 1/8 socket to remove the JD filter adaptor (an adjustable wrench can also be used).12mm hex wrench to tighten the adapter fitting (A 3/8" socket extension can be substituted)14mm socket to remove the existing drain plug15/16" socket to tighten the new drain tubePlumbing Teflon tapeThreadlocker Red 271Drain pan small enough to fit under the enginePlenty of shop towelsBrake cleaner (the cheap stuff is more than adequate)2-quarts of 10W30 oil (conventional oil can be used but I prefer synthetic)I also suggest putting down some cardboard or plastic under the engine area to contain the inevitable oil spillage.Installation was simple and straightforward. There are a number of detailed videos online that details the process. Before starting the process, I opted to siphon as much oil as possible out of the crankcase using a small hand siphon pump. This reduces unavoidable spillage when removing the JD filter adapter and drain plug.Despite diligently changing the filter annually per the owner's manual, the 1.5 quarts of oil that I removed from the crankcase was almost black which confirmed my concerns about the inadequacy of the Easy Change ™ system.Teflon tape was used on the drain plug to ensure no leakage. Theadlocker Red was used on the adapter fitting to ensure it did not come off when removing the filter. What spillage that did occur on the chassis was easily cleaned with the brake cleaner and shop towels.Lawn tractors are not an inexpensive investment and replacing a $50, obviously inefficient oil filter each year only adds to the cost while increasing the risk of pre-mature engine failure. With the JD OEM conversion kit, I am assured the engine is being better lubricated with a new filter AND fresh oil each season which increases reliability and potential longevity. Additionally, the conventional oil filter and 2 quarts of oil is half the price of the Easy Change ™ system.NOTE: Please dispose of the old oil and filter responsibly.

Retrofit your Deere mower with this
If you own a newer John Deere rider with the Quick Change oil change feature, buy this set up and change it from a quick change to this. Hear me out. The quick change system costs about $60-$80 each change and takes about a minute to change on the machine. No mess, relatively quick and easy. The problem? You’re leaving between 1.5 to 2.0 quarts of dirty oil in your mower. It is convenient, but it’s also expensive and ineffective. This retro fit is simple to install, takes maybe 15 minutes, and when you’re done you drain the oil more from the bottom of the engine from a tube, and you WILL get 3+ quarts of oil out using this method. I guess if you’re going to change the oil yourself, you might as well Change it all! As usual, YouTube has some great videos to help you out if need be.
