If you like Ed and Lorraine Warren stories this book is for you
I've been obsessed with the Warrenz since I first head about them and Annabelle years ago so of course I had to have 6his book. I think its very well written and tells the story in a factual manner although it almost seems like you are reading fiction because of the unbelievable nature of what happened. I personally could not put the book down once I started it. Love the book. Great read.

Good Nonfiction Read
The whole story was interesting. It was written as a sort of running commentary of events. Being really into scary books, it wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. I kept wanting it to incorporate creative nonfiction prose more than just a report of events, but that's just personal preference.Reading about the Smurls, though, and what they went through makes me grateful for my "mundane" life - without hauntings.Without giving away the end, I'll just say that I would have loved an update on their status in terms of the spirits.

Creepy
This book is very creepy. I loved every second of it. It's nice to read a book that gives me chills just reading it. I know for a fact this is a true story. I highly recommend if you want a good scare.

The Haunting of an Entire Suburban Neighborhood
I got this book on one of Amazon's Mystery Deals. Ed and Lorraine Warren and their encounters have been a part of my childhood: from Discovery Channel's A Haunting, Lifetime's Unsolved Mysteries, Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures, and so many more documentaries about haunting happenings in the world, they have been model and fascinating fixtures in my understanding of haunted history.I always listen to tales like these with an open mind, not just to those experiencing or documenting the haunting, but also to skeptics. This book has both the almost too real account of an entire neighborhood and dozens of witnesses, but also the entertainment value any skeptic or horror fanatic can really enjoy. As for editing, the book could really do with another look through for misspellings, typos, grammatical errors, and perhaps better organization. I understand the format was to be as closely verbatim to the witness accounts as possible, certain entries had nothing to do with the actual haunting such as the "apprentice demonologist." The formatting definitely could have been better.Overall, I truly enjoyed reading this book over a quaint afternoon and really hope the series could be included in more Amazon sales or Kindle Unlimited. The price is high for an ebook at full price, and for one day per book's reading as an advanced reader, it can be quite expensive to get the whole series for $50US.Thank you for the sale and experience of reading this book. It was truly wonderful and full of nostalgia for me.

THE HAUNTED—A Family’s Love and a Powerful Faith
Sometimes, my wife asks how I can read scary books just before going to sleep. I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember and it’s never bothered me. Like most people, I read for pleasure. But as a writer, I also read for understanding. Usually, when I read books about the supernatural, I intellectualize everything down to the story, writing style, and authenticity of the characters. I may have to revisit that approach.THE HAUNTED is the true story of the Smurl family, devout Catholics living in Pennsylvania who find themselves being infested with a demon and other vengeful spirits. Based on everything I’ve read so far about demons, this situation can occur when someone invites the demonic into their home through the use of Ouija boards, spells, or cursed objects like the Annabelle doll. Not so with the Smurls. This family did none of those things, yet the demonic entered their lives and plagued them for years, terrorizing individual family members—and even the neighbors.Despite everything that happens, the Smurl family remains rooted in their faith. It’s the main reason they were able to manage for so long, undergoing multiple exorcisms and hordes of tourists wanting a glimpse of “the dark side.” As for me, I am comfortable in my faith and have always believed the demonic will leave me alone so long as I don’t seek it out. After reading THE HAUNTED, I’m not so sure anymore.

Surprisingly flat
Of course I had to finish this book on October 31st. Funnily enough, though, it wasn't a particularly scary read. Of course I KNOW movies such as The Conjuring are "enhanced" and exaggerated so that they can work as pieces of fiction, but I definitely didn't imagine this book to feel so... flat.I think it's got to do with the writing style --it's very journalistic, very matter-of-factly, which makes the Smurls' experiences feel a little boring, and not particularly scary, despite the fact that they're dealing with demons and apparitions and even supernatural rape (now that' something I would've never expected for me to write). It's not a bad book, by any means, but none of it is particularly suspenseful or exciting or credible. The ending is anticlimactic, and the Warrens feel surprisingly extraneous to the story; they don't DO very much, contrary to what the movies would like us to believe. I guess if you're a Christian, you're gonna like this book --most of its characters are very religious, and believe in solving their problems with the power of prayer-- but if you're looking for something spooky, you're gonna be a little disappointed, just like me.

The Haunted by Robert Curran
Before you read this book: it is v e r y important to cover the book with the Holy Sign of the Cross and say "In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, Amen. I cover this book with the Blood of Jesus." This wards off the negative entities and energy in the book. Do so every time before you startreading. The contents is absolutely true and a greatcontribution to education in demons and how they operate. I am so thankful that Ed and Lorraine wrote this book.

Great book!
I’m a skeptic and definitely love scary movies, especially the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren, so this book literally took me 3 days to read, couldn’t put it down!
