UPDATE: still adorable but no longer working (Adorable -- right out of my girlhood!)
Oh this phone is just adorable! And it rings with a bell -- OK, a digital recording of a bell -- but makes me smile every time I hear it. It has basic features -- redial, flash, pulse or tone, soft or loud ring, and the ring can be turned off. If you need call waiting, voice mail, other special features, you'll have to get them from your land-line provider. It's heavy enough to feel like the real thing in my hand, and the voice quality is excellent. I'm a child of WW2 and have it in my old-time-themed bedroom with a faux Tiffany lamp, antique case pieces, a wood desk chair from around 1910, and a 100+ year old mantel clock -- fits right in. A very good price for a very good phone.UPDATE: The above was all true until about an hour ago, when the unit ceased to function. I've checked everything -- no joy, Was hoping to enjoy this phone for several years....ain't gonna happen. Shoulda taken the product warranty for $5 more. Too late to return.....

I love antique rotary phones and have a couple from the ...
I love antique rotary phones and have a couple from the 30s and 40s -- but because they are so expensive, I hesitate to use them on a regular basis and keep them out mostly for show. I bought the Crosley Candlestick and loved it -- not only does it look cool, but has the heft and cloth cord of the original.. so it was a worthy "daily dialier".I wanted a phone for the living room that fit my vintage decor AND be used laying down (which the Candlestick model is not suited for) -- so I ordered this phone which is modeled after the Leich 90 telephones of the 30s.The handset on this phone is much lighter than on the Crosley Candlestick. I was hoping they would have weighted it in a similar way to give it the "heft" of the older phones.. and the feel of the old receivers in your hand. This does not have the heft, but it is comfortable and the sound quality is loud and clear. The bell ringer works just fine....not overly loud and obnoxious.Sadly the cord is coiled, and not a straight cloth covered cord. A straight cord would have been better... but I have to say they did a nice job with this cord. It's not the cheap flat coiled cord... but the rounded coil which resists bunching and stretching much more than the flat coiled versions. This cord should retain its look for some time unless you're one of those people who insists on stretching the cord beyond its limits...and there's plenty of cord here that you shouldn't need to stretch it too far.Overall it is a nice reproduction. Other reviewers seem all bent out of shape that it isn't exactly like an original. Of course it isn't! It's a reproduction designed to give you the LOOK -- which it does. It LOOKS great sitting on my end table -- fits in perfectly with my 30's/40's decor and works well as a daily use phone.

Fun and Functional
I bought this phone for a European styled bedroom, and it looks just right with the rest of the decor. It has an old-fashioned ring that was a pleasant surprise the first time I heard it. The push-buttons are easy to read and use, and the sound through the handset is crystal clear. I like the fact that the volume control for the earpiece can just adjusted quite a lot; I have a slight hearing impairment and have a terrible time trying to hear on our cordless phones, even when the volume is turned all the way up. I can easily hear everyone with this phone. The handset is heavier on the mouthpiece end, so you can't balance it on your shoulder to free both hands; one hand has to hold it.

Functional, nice looking, but not perfect.
It’s nice looking and heavy but the ring on loud is low, it’s hard to hear through the earpiece and it sits a bit crooked in the cradle. If you have hearing issues this is not the phone for you. I bought it for power outages. No electricity required. So I’m kinda satisfied.

Not worth the purchase.
Purchased this phone and it didn't work out of the box. I was quickly sent a replacement. The second phone seemed to work. It was hard to hear on it but I loved the look and I bought it for my kids to use if there was an emergency. Two months later and the phone only works half the time it is used. When we receive a call the person can not hear us talking at all. We might use it a few times a week. I purchased a simple phone for 12.00 and it works so much better.

My first Amazon purchase
This phone is in use still and works great. It's not easy to snuggle it between your shoulder and neck due to the rounded shape of the handpiece.Works great and I love how it looks in my old house. :) I'd buy again.

Fantastic Reproduction ! ! !
This phone is as close to antique originals as I've seen. The weight and feel of the phone is superb and closely mimics the originals. The electronics work exceptionally well; clear, easy to hear conversations from both ends, plus it just plain looks great on my roll top desk. The pictures are a little bit off in that the phone is actually a flat, non-reflective black color. It is a most appropriate color/finish for this wonderful antique reproduction so please don't expect a shiny black phone.
