Wellness for real life
Let me be honest, I’m a mom of 3, a wife and work often more than full time. While I know that nutrition is the foundation of good health, taking care of myself is hard to prioritize when so many other things need my full attention. Enter the Wellness Remodel. I love that this book emphasizes the importance of taking care of yourself while breaking down ways to do so physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s a reminder that you can’t fill from an empty cup and offers easy to incorporate ideas on how to not only make time for yourself but to make the most of that time.Cara’s nutritional philosophy is easy to follow and even more importantly, it works! When you eat to fuel your body instead of living in a restrictive mindset the changes are amazing: less brain fog, more energy, clearer skin (good bye cystic acne!) restful sleep, clothes fit better and you just feel good. I had forgotten what that was like. Like Christina, I spent my 20’s really not feeling well and unknowingly battling my body thinking I was being “healthy”. Following the CCN way really has changed not only my life, but my family’s as well. The book itself is well written and easy to read. I felt like I was hanging out with friends sharing their tips and guidance instead of trying to pay attention to Nutrition 101. Wherever you are at in life in your life, whether you are mom, a student, a CEO, an athlete, this book can work for you. There are no gimmicks here, this is real moms sharing real food and real tips on how to start feeling your best. Highly recommend!

Well written book but be prepared to spend $800 for the 14 Day Detox
So this book is well written for the most part, and provides great guidance and sound advice. Two issues though:1) the shopping list is so disorganized. There are things on the list you don’t need and things in the recipes not on the list.2) this is not a budget friendly detox plan. I get that good food costs $, I’m not a terrible eater most times and our grocery bill is typically $400-$500 a month. For ONE week of food, you’re going to be dropping approximately $400 for two people. And this is assuming you’ve got a decent pantry stash and you have to purchase all the produce and nuts fresh, etc. My jaw literally hit the floor.I couldn’t believe this, so I literally went through the first week, wrote down all the ingredients and quantities needed, then did online shopping for my local grocer. So I invested hours into this to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. And with my own grocery list it added up to just over $400. Atrocious! So needless to say, I won’t be doing the detox or will do a way paired down version which I’m bummed about because I was looking forward to it. But I’m definitely going to incorporate some of these recipes into rotation to help cut back the junk eating we do do occasionally.

Delicious and doable healthy eating that moves the needle on pretty much everything
Yes, you will need to stock up on groceries and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, but after delaying my reset for two weeks because I didn't want to go to the store and deal with all that, I went on Instacart and had everything I needed within two hours. While some favorite recipes stand out as things I truly want to eat every day (strawberry tossed salad, blueberry oat bars, chicken zucchini burgers, pineapple stir fry) I have not cooked a single recipe that I didn't enjoy eating. AND--all you starving dieters out there--this reset has you eating ALL THE TIME, and no tiny, unfulfilling portions either, yet I lost weight and inches and overall feel great. The recipes are so good that I didn't stop after the two-week reset. This is my go-to cookbook now. I love prepping food on the weekend that I can eat all week long. The toughest decision is which incredible meal to eat next, and I'm always surprised at "what? I get to eat something delicious AGAIN?" every 3-4 hours. I honestly have to set a timer to remind myself to eat, because I don't even have to wait until I get hungry.

Well rounded guide to being the best you!
I'm only halfway through the book and haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but I am already impressed! If you really read through from start to finish, this book is about so much more than a simple "diet" or exercise plan. This is a comprehensive guide to becoming the best you. One that focuses on all the many facets of our lives. I appreciate that Cara is a nutritionist, this gives credibility to the nutritional guidance she is recommending and I love that there is still a sensitivity that every body is different and to give yourself grace. I found some of the tips on changing perspective reminded me of the Dalai Lama (I know, sounds crazy), but I am also currently reading The Book of Joy. One of the things that the Dalai Lama talks about with regard to stressful situations is thinking about the other person and when you find yourself feeling frustrated, think instead about how the other person may be going through something difficult and when you take the focus away from yourself, you have more compassion and it becomes easier to empathize with others. It was interesting to find a somewhat similar idea here on shifting the way you look at situations to help alleviate stress. So far, I am truly enjoying the book. I am going to send one to my friend that I think will really enjoy it too!

I would definitely recommend this book
This book has a lot of very good information in it. The recipes are really easy to follow and the ingredients are readily available in the grocery stores. Christina and Cara have made the book for real people that have health issues.

Damaged
As you can see by my photos this book is ENTIRELY damaged. I wouldn’t care about the mark on the bottom but the spine is coming away from the book in 2 spots. Going back!
