Just received today. Have not used yet but these are a really nice sturdy design. I am sure they will work GREAT!! Have no problem giving 5 stars right now even without using them. Much sturdier than the ones at HD (only a few $s more expensive)!! I thought about buying Stainless Steel ones but that is NOT necessary with these (stainless steel are much more expensive). Great design. These are specifically designed for deck stairs. They also have these for horizontal runs on deck railing. The ones at HD are for both, a compromise and are much flimsier!!! Note the vertical holes on these that go into the vertical 2x4 are staggered so that the screws will not interfere with each other. (#8 screws are recommended). Could not tell that from the picture. Reviews on the HD site for the ones there mentioned cracking easily. I think it would take a lot of force to crack these. Very doubtful that would happen. Another note, the ones at HD require screwing into the end of the 2x4 vertical board. THESE DO NOT!! The screws that go horizontally into the vertical 2x4 take care of that situation. I think this will make installation much easier!! Really glad Amazon carries these!! I am impressed. Not a carpenter but a retired engineer and I appreciate good designs!! I am replacing a rotted stair railing and using these for that. If I do additional work next year on the deck I will definitely use these and the horizontal design.

I used a set to rebuild the railing on my back porch and found them to be up to the task in every way.

I got these to support my 2x6 rails for our deck stairs.They are sturdy but really better suited for 2x4 lumber. They also require you buy proper screws to install them, which is not uncommon for deck parts but a significant cost to consider. Had they been sized larger I think they would be a solid win.

I used treated 4x4's and 2x4's purchased from Lowes. The wood was a little snug and took some pressure to seat them into the hangers. Hardware was not included, I bought some premium black screws at Lowes and they worked great with the install, I cannot remember the screw size. All in all I was very happy with how it turned out and how strong they are. If you are using this in an application like mine, I would recommend installing these prior to putting the posts up if possible. We did just that and it went a lot smoother.

The only way to build deck railing is with these 2x4 supports.

Second purchase. Sturdy, easy to use. Definitely made our project go more quickly.

We used these as well as the straight ones to replace our metal railing that was falling apart. They look great, were easy to work with, and great quality overall. Would recommend.
