Wonderful Fun
I watched this so long ago and liked it. when I saw this on Prime I watched it again and this time I loved it. I did not remember it well and was surprised how decent it is compared to how I view Madonna now in many ways. I love her here and in fact, loved all the characters. It took me back again to 80's nostalgia and clothing. This has great wacky fun action with no dull moment. The ending was sweet and satisfying and happy. Charming is a great world to sum it up with.

Rosanna Arquette enters into a Dream like World!
Watching this movie again, on Prime, after so many years, I forgot how both quirky, and trendy it was....But the director has created this whole sub culture NYC scene, that, similar to the amnesia that Rosanna's character gets that drives the whole movie, it seems she, and we viewers, NEVER wake up, and there is just this whole weird dreamlike quality to the entire film. This is accentuated by the careful use of props and sets and the odd colors in them.Out of sheer boredom , in a marriage going nowhere, Rosanna gets fixated on a mysterious character, that shows up in classifieds where her band member boyfriend puts up these ads entitled, naturally "Desperately Seeking Susan"....when spying on a meeting place with the eponymous "Susan", she accidentally bumps her head, causing amnesia, and from that point on, until almost the end of the movie, doesn't know who she is, and is mistaken for Susan.....Madonna, of course, the "real" Susan, is a cunning drifter that bends and manipulates people, has a rootless existence, but gets by on her appeal. Almost a con artist of sorts, she is the first one to figure just what is going on while everyone else is utterly confused.Aiden Quinn, back in his hunk days, falls for the memory challenged Rosanna, thinking SHE is the "real" Susan: sound confusing? Well, it is , in a way, and again, like I said , dreamlike, and at times, BAD dreams! Anyway, Quinn and Arquette have instant chemistry and shows her some real loving that her clueless Husband, played by Marc Blum, never could! This was way before Madonna ruined her face and body, and she was quite the cute, however, make no mistake about it, Rosanna Arquette was beyond adorable in this movie, and as much as they dressed them similar, She was on another level of beauty. It all makes for a madcap fun time, as another veteran bad guy actor, Will Patton , is after whoever the real Susan is, as there was a mix up and she is walking around with these priceless Egyptian earrings, totally oblivious to their value.....it all comes together in a wild slapstick style end scene, and Rosanna, with her memory now back, realizes that she could never go back to the boring and pointless life she had with her useless husband.....a great taste of the 80s, and a fun ride, go along with it, and just enjoy the silliness.....

No-spoiler review!
Really good movie; good acting, semi-realistic, unique and interesting story and plot. Tense moments between the characters weren't too over dramatic, and funny moments were actually funny and not cliche. The way the people of the time/class are portrayed seems realistic as well, from the clothing to the mannerisms. They could be seen as stereotypical to a point, but that doesn't matter much in this movie. There were also film techniques I have never seen used before, which impressed me. The premise is unique and nothing like I have seen before, and I watch a lot of films and have taken numerous film classes. If you like the '80s you will probably like this!

Amusing Story
amusing story of mistaken identity in which a bored New Jersey housewife Roberta Glass played by Rosanna Arquette gets a bump on the head resulting in temporary amnesia and is mistaken by the friend of a band member as being the prostitute groupie Susan played by Madonna. Roberta gets another bump on the head when attacked by the partner of the murdered grand larceny thug who had been sleeping with the real Susan and recalls who she actually is. Meanwhile Roberta takes up with the friend of the band member and refuses to return to her philandering sauna selling husband. Well acted by all of the principal players.

Desperately Seeking
I was not an early Madonna fan, but became one later in her career and did see her first music videos on MTV. This movie is not very easy to find and I was happy to get it used, in good condition & at a good price. I enjoyed the whacky plot and the antics of Madonna's character, Susan. Aiden Quinn and Rosanna Arquette deliver very good performances. An extremely whacky & unlikely alternate ending was included on the DVD which I did enjoy; they made the right choice with the ending used for theatrical release.

If You're Desperate For a Great Movie This One is For You!
If your despate to see a funny movie from the 80's then this one is for you! This was one of Moddana's first films. Very entertaining and full of unique style provided by Moddana. This movie was made in the era of Prince's Purple Rain and it shows it by the wordrobe style and of course the songs. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of Moddana.

Desperately Seeking Susan is So Important But Also So Weird
Everything in the first 5-10 minutes of this movie marries Boomers to Millennials. What a weird movie. So 2010. So 1963. So Rosemary's Baby. So 21st century - Susans' view of the "john" with the Polaroid is so millennial with a phone. It's a genius movie, marrying two generations of grandparents and grandchildren. The generation gap on acid.

Great Classic Movie
The DVD is good, very standard. Picture quality good. I'm glad I have Desperately Seeking Susan back in my collection.. I'm a keen Madonna fan. I think the movie and Madonna's fame somehow collide slightly, everyone "Into The Groove". The movie, is both psychological and somehow mystical. Her co-actress Rosanna Arquette is intrigued with the risky lifestyle and after a case of amnesia finds herself inter locked in these scenarios and she is maisie with it. It's described as comedy, but I think this has more edge and keeping everyone in suspense. It should be called Desperately Seeking Roberta, her forgetting her identity to be Susan! Twist to it 😂

full of colours
Intelligent comedy where everybody gives the best they can, from a director to the actors. It is a movie full of color with a lot of style. I saw it for the first time about tree decades ago and simple did not forget it. Enjoyed even more now. And a seller made to deliver it even earlier in the all chaos within this virus.Amalia

Really good!
Still good after thirty or more years. Was expecting it to be woefully dated. A funny, original movie with great performances all round. Something of a classic!
