Product Description Regarded as one of the all-time great Blues guitarists, Chicago based Magic Sam remains a primary influence and favorite of Blues and Rock guitarists alike. Recordings feature Sam with Mack Thompson on bass, Odie Payne Jr.. on drums, and Sam's uncle, Shakey Jake Harris on harmonica. Recorded in 1966 at Sylvio's in Chicago, these tracks are prime examples of the Soul infused Blues of the mid-1960's. 15 tracks on this collection are from that date, the last two, which also feature Jake were recorded in the fall of 1969 during the American Folk Blues tour. Review If you love the real things, the RAW blues, you cant miss with this. --Jimmie Vaughn

Epic live Chicago club blues
Raw real and righteous . Sam was a genius of the slashing single string style. You can smell the smoke and whisky

I work near where Sylvios was back in the day. Sad those blues bars are pretty much all gone replaced by new warehouses and condos. We're very lucky to have these live recordings. It sounds as if you are there that's how great this is.

Exciting firey live performance
Hey, a Magic Sam bootleg that sounds great! Recorded by an Belgian amateur with excellent equipment for the 60's, we hear a great barroom show with decent fidelity and instrument separation. I don't note any lack of bass (electric?), and it's well balanced. Only fault is that nearly the entire set is cover material, recent and older hits by Little Walter, BB King, Freddie King, Albert Collins, and Muddy Waters. Shakey Jake is Jimmy Harris (not Big Walter Horton, who sometimes went by Shakey Horton). Two tunes are added from the soundtrack of one of the American Folk Blues DVD's (Sam playing solo two of his own tunes on an electric guitar borrowed from Earl Hooker). Disc is packed into a cardboard folder with no inner sleeve- a bit hard to remove without fingerprints or scratches.

Really?
I'm a Magic Sam fan, but listen to the samples, guys. "Sound quality" is a contradiction-in-terms on this one. For Magic Sam completists only. (Are there any?)

A must have for any collector of the chicago blues
Samuel Maghett aka Magic Sam was the real deal. An incredible blues guitarist with his own playing style & a vocalist blessed with a great soul voice. This CD recorded at Sylvio's club in 1966 captures the raw feel of the live performance with 16 tracks including what became his best known song All Your Love [later covered & recorded by Fleetwood Mac] & one bonus track of All Your Love recorded in Europe in 1969.

RAW BLUES
This is a live cd probably recorded during 1966 in Chicago with Shakey Jake on harmonica and the ocasional vocal sharing the stage with guitarist Magic Sam. These are raw blues but good nonetheless. There are 3 bonus tracks recorded in Europe during the American Folk Blues Festival.John Walsh
