Inconsistent
I love Ellie Alexander books. Unfortunately this one though story was intriguing and engaging had some time lapses that didn't make sense. It also had a scene jump that didn't follow the flow of the story.

Loved this great adventure inside Leavenworth Washington!!!
Loved it! I have come to think of the characters as family. I loved the setting, the food descriptions and the details of the town and season. Although I am a lifelong teetotaler, I find the beer brewing process fascinating! Great twisty mystery with some very important questions answered and still waiting for more answers. Can’t wait to read the next book!!!

This author can do no wrong...
What is there NOT to love when one of your favorite authors (Elie Alexander) places a cozy mystery series in one of your favorite settings (a brewery) in a location that has now shot to the top of your "want to visit" list?I picked up book one in this series because in addition to being a cozy series addict, I am also a definite craft beer lover and a bit of a beer snob. As with her Bakeshop Mystery series, it didn't take long before I was hooked on the characters, the setting, the location, and pretty much everything about these books! While I am normally not a huge fan of the "longer mystery within a short mystery" theme, this one is extremely intriguing, as each book continues to delve deeper into the unknown past of the main character, Sloan Krause. What's going on there? I want to know more!Getting back to the current book...Once again, the author drops clues and misdirections cleverly intertwined to keep the reader bouncing back and forth between possible suspects. Even when I was pretty sure that I had it figured it, it was one of those uncertain "no, it couldn't be that obvious" guesses. Very sneaky! And while the ending wraps the current tale's murder up nicely, I'm once again left eagerly awaiting the next book in the series...

Cozy page turner
This is the fourth in the Sloan Krause series, and while I haven't read the others I was able to jump right into this one and not feel like I had missed vital information. That being said, I enjoyed this one so much that I'll for sure be going back and reading the others. This book is set in Leavenworth, WA which is just a bit of a drive from where I live now. All of the descriptions of this Bavarian-style village at this time of year, when it's basically a winter wonderland straight out of a fairytale, had me feeling seriously nostalgic for life back in Fort Collins, Colorado—which is also a small town with a serious love of breweries, and knows how to do the holidays right. Our leading lady, Sloan Krause is working at a local brewery and taproom which has just opened a few rooms and is trying to get into the BnB business. But during their very first weekend with guests, there is a murder! As the story progresses and we get pieces of information, it seems that a number of the guests (and locals) are involved in the mystery in some way. I don't want to say too much and give any spoilers but I really enjoyed the pacing of the book, and the way the characters all worked together.Sloan was a lot of fun and I can't wait to read more of the series. So if you're in the mood for a cozy holiday mystery definitely check this one out!

Another brilliant Sloan Krause mystery
I am in love with this series by Ellie Alexander. Sloan is such a strong woman who is going through a really hard time. Her life has not been easy but her son and her friends help her to stay grounded and always move forward. Leavenworth Washington is such a beautiful small town with so much character. When crime happens, it is a big deal. When a murder happens, Sloan can’t help but be intrigued. She finds herself questioning people who are suspects and just gets more confused the more she talks to them. It could be anyone of them. With other personal issues going on, she feels like she is spinning out of control. Lost in her thoughts, she walks way to far into the woods. Trying to get back to town before hypothermia sets in and in the dark, she runs smack into the killer. All Sloan can think about is how she is going to get out of there alive and back to her son. As she tries to escape, the killer bashes her with a shovel. She screams for help and hopes someone comes to her rescue in time. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good mystery especially with the main character being a woman. Ellie writes such amazing stories that you really feel like you know the characters. I can’t wait for the next installment to find out what’s next for Sloan and if she gets the answers she has been looking for about her past.

Fun and entertaining.
This is the fifteenth book by Ellie Alexander that I have purchased. The Bake Shop Mysteries and Sloan Krause Mysteries take place in towns in Washington and Oregon. They are very easy to read and well written. The main characters are complicated but likeable. It is a series that is well worth reading.
